A lovely restaurant and wine shop in the small village of Montpeyroux. We have enjoyed meals there on previous visits to Montpeyroux, but this time the food was even more outstanding. My grilled prawns with lobster bisque appetizer goes down as one the best appetizers I have ever tasted (see photo). This was followed by low temperature cooked pork loin, which almost melted in the mouth. This was accompanied by splendidly efficient service by the single waitress, who seemed to be able to be everywhere at once. There is also a vast array of mostly local wines, all at very reasonable prices. And if you like it you can order a bottle or two to take home.We enjoyed our meal so much we reserved again for later in the week. When we arrived, however, we found a notice that said the restaurant was âexceptionellementâ closed. They made no effort to contact us, which is very poor customer management. So if you go, call ahead to make sure they are open, even if you have a reservation. I almost knocked a star off for this, but decided the food was so good I would stay with five.

St Guilhem le Désert is a jewel not to be missed when you are so close by, as we were. With its impressive Plane tree which towers over the village square, it is extremely popular and is therefore very busy throughout the summer. As we left the main car park I spotted a sign which said if you wanted to take lunch in calm surroundings, look for restaurant Bon Moment, just off the main square. Once we hit the crowds I almost forgot about the sign, but as we are not crowd lovers my husband headed into one of the first narrow streets he came to and it was here, as we stepped back to let a group pass, that I noticed the sign over the doorway Le Bon Moment. Luckily there were still free tables, as the place is very small. It is difficult to recall exactly what we ate now, but I do know that it was all freshly cooked to order in a little open kitchen, which you passed en route to the tables. Pork in lavender cream sauce was the main course which was unusual, but delicious. Service was quick and friendly and prices were incredibly good for the meal we had. It's tempting to go to the busy restaurants in the square, in the shade of the magnificent Plane tree, but if you prefer something a littler quieter, take a Moment to look up Le Bon Moment, you won't be disappointed

Traditional Mediterranean cooking.
Waiters are all lovely - friendly and helpful - happy to speak English but also very pleasant if you want to make them suffer your appalling attempts at their language. Manager clearly has his own opinion of the English, which only perpetuates the stereotypical view of the non chalant Frenchman - Iâm not looking for American style service but a smidge more humanity and a smidge less âgruffâ wouldnât do any harm. The whole village is v expensive, given its âheritageâ status and the prices at this place are no exception. Food is better than at some of the other restaurants here.Food was simple but very nice. Foie gras, smoked trout - all good. Cuttlefish was tasty. Pleasant side vegetables. Nice grilled steak. Pudding good. Coffee tasted of coffee! ...unlike the cafe in the main square which tasted of nothing.Location is lovely - beautiful stone courtyard. Definitely recommend.

In the heart of the most beautiful village of Languedoc Roussillon, the hotel-restaurant "la taverne de l'escuelle" welcomes you all year since 1968 with rooms with various decoration and a personalized welcome. The restaurant offers all day specialties:
I have visited a few times with family and friends. Always very accommodating, even when very busy. Very attentive serving staff, no problem with children (even when mine wanted to scream the place down). The Andouillette was about the best I have tasted, you must try it if you go.Bonjour, merci d'avoir pris le temps de laisser votre avis.

Our mistake: we thought it would be a real brasserie with real food. We arrived for lunch at 1230 and there were no "plats", in fact no hot food at all except panini sandwiches. So we had salads, and they were barely edible: limp and unattractive. The whole experience was dire.

We arrived in Gignac after 1pm, out of summer season, on a cold windy but sunny day having visited Guilherm le Desert and not seen anywhere there we fancied eating. We hurried in here thinking we might be too late, this is rural France after all. We were warmly welcomed, a water bowl for our dog was provided before I could get my own out of my bag and before we were offered apéritifs. Dog very happy! Good choice of interesting food delightfully served in generous quantities. Folk arriving after us were cheerfully seated and served too, even those arriving nearer 2pm.

Walking up a steep cobbled lane in Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert I came upon a tiny little sandwich shop/bistro. The wife runs the little front end and the husband prepares the food. They specialize in wonderful sandwiches, quiche, and deserts. We drank a lovely local rose while having a superb lunch. The gorgeous medieval village is a "Plus beau Villages de France" or one of France's most beautiful towns! Great spot worth a visit in this beautiful region of the Languedoc.

We came on a rainy Sunday. Got in just ahead of the crowd. The owner waitress was great fun. Wonderful food. Lamb's brains? Yes and good. Great selection of food and wine. Great for families. The town is unreal. I would come again and stay for weeks. YUM!!

La Famourette is a happy and friendly outdoor live-music restaurant in a clearing in the woods by the river between Aniane and Gignac. One of the terraces can be covered and heated to ensure a warm welcome for you from April to October. The trees and para
This is an atypical place...totally authentic in terms of chaotic car parking :), surrounding and decor! Great food ( not the largest choice but local and environmentally friendly ) , great service and lovely ambiance. The singer was brilliant (ranged from Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran, everyone at our table was happy ... Grand-Ma and Grand-son included) . We had great (simple) fun!

We stopped here for lunch en route to Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert. We rarely order burgers in Europe since they are almost always bad. But we had read good reviews about the ones here. They did not disappoint. They were hand-made, juicy, and cooked to order (rare.) The pomme frites were also delicious. A carafe of of the house red was also a pleasant surprise. Service was very good in spite of the language barrier. Would highly recommend this place. Wish we could have sat outside but it was just too windy.
