We are regular visitors to this family run fish restaurant. The reasons we go back are the excellent fresh, locally caught (as opposed to farmed) fish, friendly service and, considering the very high quality of the dishes served, reasonable prices. There is a cabinet where you can select the fish that you want, from a range of locally sourced caught fish of various sizes, which can then be cooked in a range of ways according to the menu. The house white is inexpensive and works perfectly with the food on offer. If visiting during the high season it is highly recommended to book in advance, especially if near a weekend. People travel a considerable distance to come to this unassuming gem, so best reserve a place. Most people seem to get there, all together, around 8:15 so I'd advise you to try to be there just before or right at 8pm to beat the rush to order. The place is children friendly and, in the summer, there are a few tables outside.Definitely worth visiting, we're looking forward to our next visit.

Bar Ristorante - Area di ristoro lampugnano, comune Civitella paganico. Superstrada Siena Grosseto. Cucina tipica Toscana.
This restaurant is just off the Aurelia about 20 minutes out of Grosseto going south towards Rome. Take the exit for Rispescia. Simple traditional interior - comfortable and warm. We enjoyed a good local antipasti selection followed by delicious home-made gnocchi with a big choice of sauces. I had artichokes and fresh tomatoes - delicate but tasty. My companion had truffles. Although we were full at that point, we both stretched our belts for dessert - one tiramisu and one crème caramel, both excellent - the tiramisu freshly made. With a small carafe of house red we paid 52 euro. Highly recommended. Friendly service too.

We came here twice during our holiday. If you are staying in the Albarese area and are looking for a nice place to eat well cooked typical Italian dishes, you should definitely come here. The owner/chef takes good care of all his guests and makes you feel like family. The door is open for you also after 10pm and the value is amazing. If you are travelling on the Aurelia and you are looking for nice lunch, just stop by.

We have been coming to Gli Attortellati for the past three years, loving the rustic setting, swift service and surprise prix fixe menu (we always order the two course menu, offering three antipasti + the famous tortelli pasta)This is authentic Maremma home cooking at its best!

Trattoria Cupicucina Casalingaesclusivamente Carne
We went as a couple with two young children. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly, with a nice grassed area for children to play in while parents ate, not forgetting the beautiful Tuscan hills as a view. The waiter was very helpful and spoke perfect English, and explained a menu with lots of local dishes and exciting out of the ordinary options. I went for the florentine steak, 1.5kg of steak (!) with grilled vegetables and my girlfriend had the pollo al mattone (chicken cooked under a brick!). The steak was not only huge in size but unbelievably succulent and perfectly cooked in salt and olive oil - aside from the size, it was the best I've ever had. We then had some hand made panna cotta and almond biscuits with dessert wine, all of which were beautiful. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone in the Maremma region, for the uniqueness and quality of the food, the surroundings, and the quality of the service. This is one of those gems where you can tell how much effort is made to make an amazing experience for diners.

We stayed for 5 days with NatureTrek (a wildlife specialist) and were very well looked after. The accommodation is rustic - not modern and polished, but very comfortable and clean, with real character, including an individual outside sitting area. Breakfast and dinner are taken in a building near the accommodation, and the food is excellent, plus wines produced from their own grapes. Very Italian food and all the better for it.Very welcoming family run business - you are made to feel part of their family. The grounds are extensive, and for early risers especially superb for wildlife, with deer, wild board, bee-eaters, golden oriole and more easily seen.We were with a party of about with two expert nature specialists as tour guides. The local area has many outstanding nature reserves to visit.thanks for the nice words. We are pleased if you liked to be with us in the Tuscan Maremma and if you liked our food and hospitality. Your group is always polite and very interesting, we found out with you animals in our area that we did not know. Especially my son Diego of 11 years has always been interested to know animals and plants and seeing the beautiful pictures you do every day !! Thank you and we hope to see you again !!!

If you are driving from Gossetto to Rome or viceversa and would like some good meat or pizza in an honest Tuscan trattoria, La Scafarda in Alberese, might be the right place for you. The owner and the staff are curtious and friendly. The menu is mostly of local recipes (great pesto anchovies) The pasta is good, a bit too "watery" the pici al cacio e pepe (cheese & pepper). The highlight is the Fiorentina steaks, filet or veal. Pleasant local wines (Morellino )Before or after your meal, try to visit the Park a few km from Alberese: it's one of the nicest pine tree wood on a beachfront in Tuscany.

Il Mangiapane has been another place that we love visiting every time when in Italy. They serve very good and authentic Toscanean-style dishes in an absolutely relaxed area. It is an ideal for families as well as couples. The waiters speak, besides Italian, also English and French.
