4 friends out to dinner. Very noisy; tough to dialogue. We each ordered 4 tacos. Nobody (including me) felt they would order the same tacos again. The service was average. The price ($6/taco) was a bit steep, considering that 2 tacos do NOT make a meal (they are unusually small). We wouldn't order any $26 entree in THIS place.

Very long wait, no system to notify when it is your turn, loud music, dirty plates, filthy bathrooms, we had to ask numerous time for water. Food is very tasty, and portions are big, The rest needs a lot of improvement. People are standing all over waiting for their turn. The waters are not trained well, when we just set at the table the waiter sprayed cleaner all over the table and our clothes to clean the table, then when taking plates off the table the oil and sauce from food were flying all over us too. We took the remaining food back home and found long black hair on the plate, none has long black hair in our family:( not sure that tasty food overwrite all the filthy moments

Don Juan is a small local restaurant in the Valley section of West Orange with parking on the street (usually not a problem). It is not really a Mexican restaurant in the true sense of the word though there are some dishes (tacos, enchiladas) that most would identify as such. The food is what I would characterize as pan-Central American. My favorites are the tostones with guacamole appetizer, camarones al ajillo (shrimp in garlic), and casado tico al gusto (a platter with rice, beans, plantains, and choice of meat/chicken). This is not haute cuisine by any means, but it is both good and authentic and relatively inexpensive. They do now serve alcohol (a cold Modelo goes well with these dishes). The service can be a bit slow sometimes, but I have never experienced that to the point that it was bothersome. I would recommend Don Juan if you are in the area and would like a taste of Latin America at a reasonable price.

Authentic Mexican Cuisine. Tacos, Enchiladas, Quesadillas and much more...
This place is a great little find. The people working there were so nice, the food fresh and very good. Perfect size portions. There is parking behind the place and you can enter through the back door. Will definitely come here again. Very inexpensive meals.

Very very good. Different cuisine. The fries and cod appetizer. Try the Peruvian chicken shrimp rice and stir fry veggies dish. The rice pudding desert a ten. Great service. Nice atmosphere. BYOB. On and out for about $85 a couple all in. Worth every penny. Enjoy. Beware parking is a bit of a challenge so b prepared to search, find, and walk a bit. Especially Friday or Saturday nights.
