What a great find. Thank you trip Advisor! i was traveling with a small group of college students to Poughkeepsie. So the 4 of us tried El Azteca. We were easily able to get in at 6:00 on a Friday night. There is a small parking lot in back. The staff was super duper nice and friendly. I was even a weirdo that asked for the server to choose my meal for me. I asked for their most awesome dish with whatever meat they suggested. The server smiled. I was pretty sure that I would enjoy whatever she brought out. The seever later came out with a lamb burrito with a green sauce. Totes scrummy! The guac was amazing as was the tres leches cake. The three students were all very happy with their meals (especially the mole and the tamales). And it was all pretty cheap. What a great restaurant! Yum!

This restaurant found my husband and I - we were in the area to visit FDR's home and took a slightly wrong turn and saw this restaurant - it caught our eye because of the name Nelly ( my mom's name is Nellie and she is an incredible mom and Puerto Rican cook) - we stopped for lunch the next day on our way home - it was fabulous! We had the pernil (pork shoulder) with rice and beans and pasteles - it was as close to Mom's cooking as one could get !!! If you love pasteles , you must go to this small homestyle restaurant - ask for the pasteles - they were not listed on the mernu. The place is clean, small and informal. The staff is very welcoming - it's definitely a local gem.We plan to return to Poughkeepsie just to go back to Nelly's restaurant.

Come enjoy the best kept culinary secret in the Hudson Valley - experience the best that Oaxaca has to offer. Enjoy traditional dishes made with fresh herbs, spices, and cooked in the same manner as our ancestors.
Always follow the Mexicans when you are searching for the best Mexican Food. They have excellent dishes. I noticed a guy eating soup that looked delicious. I asked the waitress what kind of soup was it, she said it wasn't on the menu..They made me a container to go and it was very good. Service is good but some days it gets even better, depending on who working..I believe they only have on street parking, located near McDonalds on Main st across from a gas station.
