It was very clear that a lot pride is taken in preparing the food in this restaurant. The service was great and they answered all of our questions with a smile. They checked on us frequently to see how we were doing. Very friendly atmosphere. We will definitely go again.

After seeing the great reviews for this restaurant, hubby and I were excited to try it. We didn't really know what to expect for El Salvador cuisine. Our first impression was that the place was dirty. The floors hadn't been cleaned in ages. We could tell it was a family-run restaurant (which we love!) but that's where the positive aspects of our dinner ended. On the up-side: the menu was pretty large, including a selection of items available for breakfast. There were pictures of each dish which was also helpful because I truly couldn't understand what the dishes were. My husband got the breaded pan fried chicken which he said was really good. It came with creamed beans, a salad and rice for $10. I got some sort of shredded beef that had green peppers and onions mixed in plus a small salad, creamed beans and rice. Mine was also $10. There was also a smaller selection of Mexican food but we wanted to try food from El Salvador since we had never had it before. Service was good. Portion sizes were good and filled a large platter. On the down-side: As I mentioned, the place had a "dirty" feel to it. There were several tvs on and they were tuned to some sort of Spanish-speaking soap opera. That was distracting. The food itself didn't have much flavor (maybe that's the way food from El Salvador tastes???) and my husband couldn't tell what part of the chicken he got.The food was okay, service was good, but we probably won't go back. We'll look for other restaurants to explore.

Our first time at El Salvadoreno for lunch was just today. We had heard about the pupusa's and wanted to give it a try. The deco is sparse and simple. It was smaller than I had envisioned but that's ok with us. The staff was attentive and helpful. We ordered 3 different kinds of pupusa's and enjoyed the slaw that came with them. It has a little kick to it but very flavorful. The sauce on the table was very good with just the right amount of flavor to compliment the pupusa's. We watched what others were ordering for themselves and I can say the plates were very attractive and portions seemed large. Many different options for our next visit. It's a good place for a small lunch with family or friends and probably a nice place to visit in the evening with friends for a cocktail and conversation outside under the stars. I'm giving 4 stars today only because we didn't try many different things but everything I seen, tasted and heard were very positive.
