Find out what Latin restaurants to try in La Paz. Sitting in a valley in the Andes Mountains, La Paz is the city that touches the clouds. The de facto capital of Bolivia, and sitting between 3300 and 4100 meters above sea level, La Paz is the highest capital city in the world. Rich with 19th century churches, museums of artifacts from the pre-Conquest era, precarious overlooks, and colorful markets, La Paz is truly unique. The Witches’ Market, in the center of the city, sells charms and potions for Aymara rituals, as well as souvenirs.

From the moment you walk in you are drawn to the strange layout of the place. Really cool paintings and random stuff all around. Great value for money. The mixed platter for 2 is 90 BS. For a mix of everything thats great on the menu. They do take-aways a
Our Tour guide had booked for us all to come here one night for dinner. The owner Lucas, is nice enough and friendly, and owns a few of the restaurants on the street, Little Italy and The Local Dish ( this one is great). The food was bland and tasteless. We have had way better Mexican food even in UK and Europe. We had the veggie option, which was lacking in taste and spice. Way overpriced for Bolivia, I thought. The place is small and very cramped and overcrowded.

I think it's fairly new, right in the center of the tourist street. Don't know what else to add.... we stumbled on it when we found the place we wanted to go to had closed
After 3 months in South America, this restaurant was a welcome treat. The food was fantastic, and the Cuban sandwich had all the correct ingredients, no local substitutions. The mustard and pickles in particular were delicious! Great Cuban rum, decent service for SA, pricey but worth every penny.

GUSTU works exclusively with Bolivian native products, transforming them in a trip through Bolivian richness and diversity.
Gustu is about an hour away by cable car from Central La Paz but definitely worth a special trip, as a three-star Michelin guide rating would say. The space is beautiful, the service attentive and the food unique and spectacular both in terms of taste, creativity and presentation. The best part is the price, which is a mere fraction of what one might pay at a fine dining restaurant in any first world country.

Saltena the secret snack of La Paz. They are made early dispensed to street sellers or sit down establishments like Pacena La Saltena. If you arrive mid morning the Saltena's may all be gone. They are loved and worth it. Inexpensive. Bursting with flavor. When in La Paz you must have Saltena's or you will have missed an important part of the city culture.

In the heart of the city of La Paz - Bolivia, is the Restaurant 1700, a single proposal and somewhat eccentric for domestic and foreign. We offer a varied food menu that fuses Bolivian and international flavors, such as fillet of smoked flame with passion
This is a lovely Resteraunt. We had a 40 dollar meal that would have cost 100 in the US. I had the llama kabobs. They were fantastic. This is an oasis from the hustle and bustle of la paz. We bought a bottle of gin from them.

We came from some busy days touring in bolivias altiplano. To find this awesome quiet sunny and friendly place was a real relief. We had the lemonade, smoothies and cake to keep us busy for the afternoon while relaxing on the small terrace and used the wifi to plan the rest of our trip. Can surely recommend.

Food is really great, chef is nice. Best restaurant in Bolivia, by far - and for a reasonable price.

Popular is a casual destination for modern Bolivian food, located in the historic downtown area of La Paz, also known as "el casco viejo," around the corner from San Francisco church.
Arrived with great expectations, as the place was recommended by a friend. We arrived around opening, and was told that a table was available an hour after at 14.00 - totally fair as we did not show up to stand in line. The waiter started out giving us last week menu, one of the spoons was pretty dirty and it was showing that we were the last seating of the day. The waiter did a good job presenting the food, but the crispy chicken had to many elements. The skin was soft and the churros for dessert was like rubber. I would still recommend the place, it has a cosy atmosphere and nice food. But go there early as it seems that the prepared elements looses some finesse.
