Reviews on Latin food in Hartford, Connecticut, United States. From its origins as a Connecticut River trading post in 1633, Hartford has become not only the state capital but also the insurance capital of the world, with a slew of historical attractions, a thriving arts and entertainment center, a revitalized riverfront and beautiful parks and public gardens. It was here that the lovable Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer were born in the imagination of celebrated author Mark Twain and immortalized on paper during the writer's Hartford years. Twain's home and those of fellow literary figures Harriet Beecher Stowe and Noah Webster are open to the public. The Wadsworth Atheneum, the oldest public art museum in the U.S., houses Pilgrim-Century furniture, the Amistad collection and a special treasure hunt system to entice kids to explore the museum's works. If your timing is right (end of June, beginning of July), you'll catch the Elizabeth Park rose gardens in bloom, but fall is also great for brilliant leaf colors, and spring yields colorful gardens and blossoming trees. For a bird's-eye view of the city, visit the observation deck of Travelers Tower, where you might also spot two resident falcons.
Things to do in Hartford
This newly-opened restaurant has expanded space on Front Street compared to the original place in Wethersfield. El Pollo Guapo Hartford is located near Infinity Hall, Front Street Cinemas, Hartford's Convention Center and the Marriott Downtown Hartford Hotel. Rotisserie chicken rules here with options of fresh sides, tacos, cheese quesadillas, rice and salad bowls, etc. We shared a half bird with two "side chicks" of roasted corn and sweet potato wedges which was tasty. A "my peeps" menu is also for children under 10 years old.Staff was friendly and efficient.

This place is a true authentic Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is authentic, the food is authentic, everything is truly authentic. If you go to your local chain Mexican restaurant you are not getting authentic Mexican food... you are getting Americanized Mexican food. If you decide to pay a visit to El Nuevo Sarape Restaurant (which you definitely should) you will get authentic and delicious Mexican food. Not only is the food delicious, but the Margarita's are as well!!For those who would rather go to West Hartford to somewhere like Besito and pay a high price... don't bother. You can pay less and get MUCH BETTER FOOD in Hartford by visiting this place, or going to another restaurant like Cayote Flaco! I highly recommend visiting this place! I can not wait to go back!!!

We researched sometime to look for a restaurant where we might find âPeruvian-styleâ roasted chicken. Piolin has consistently come up to be the top establishment in the Hartford, Connecticut, as reviewed by other Trip Advisors in the past. There were ample parking spots within a few block areas in the street from the restaurant. The restaurant was packed, but we were greeted and seated promptly. The place was not glamorous and was filled with loud voices from diners of all ages, infants to very-seniors. It might very well be that the place could be typical of neighborhood eating places in Peru itself. We did not hear any language other than âSpanishâ for all we knew. From what we observed in diners, everyone was devouring his/her food with gusto and respect. We concluded, thus, foods had to be very authentic. We ordered Ceviche Piolin, a house specialty. Then, Pollo ala Brasa, their Roasted Chicken. Lastly, the Chafa Piolin, their version of fried rice with assorted vegetables and meat/chicken/seafood. The foods were brought out speedily. Throughout, the serving lady checked on us many times to ensure that we were pleased. Ceviche was flavorful and an exceptional portion. They added a deep purple-colored sea-weed and unusual looking beans, very fascinating. We were not terribly impressed with the addition of white and sweet potatoes. But, then, we couldnât judge what ought to be authentic Peruvian recipes. It was, however, a better Ceviche than we had at more expensive and âfinerâ eating establishments in the both coasts of the country. Roast Chicken was bit disappointing. It lacked those fabulous seasonings with which the dish had been famous throughout the world. The dish was accompanied by âFrench Friesâ and Peruâs famed Aji Verde. What can one say about French Fries anyway? Aji Verde was very good, but we had better ones some neighborhoods in the New York City areas. Lastly, Fried Rice. It was a large portion with full of beef, chicken, and seafood. It probably has descended from some form of âChineseâ rice dish, but had an exotic flavors different from âAmericanized Chineseâ food. We brought back three large âdoggyâ boxes home which will feed us next three to four days. In summary:Food: Good and EducationalAmbience: Homey, busy, and loudService: Good, gracious, and speedy Value: Excellent

Texas de Brazil is a Brazilian steakhouse, or churrascaria, that features endless servings of ï¬ame-grilled beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and Brazilian sausage as well as an extravagant salad area with a wide array of seasonal chef-crafted items.
I simply love the Texas De Brazil franchise. First time visiting the one in CT after visiting the ones in NY on many occasions. Best Lobster Bisque' i've ever had hands down!!!! Our waiter Chelsea....the consummate professional!!!! She knows her stuff and treats her customers gracefully. Not as romantic a setting as the Texas De Brazil in the Ridge Hill section of Yonkers NY but the food is just as feast worthy. The brazilian cheese bread is addictive af!!!! The steaks and lamb (get the mint jelly) for the most part are cooked medium but they can accomodate them to your liking. The jumbo grilled shrimp....WOW!!!! All the food you can stomach for basically $50 and the drinks arent expensive either. The only reason i give this place a 4 instead of a 5 is because the sausage (my favorite thing at TDB) the CT establisment has is not the same as the NY establishments. It tastes more like a keilbasa than it does a linguica. But I do love the place and you will too....Im full again just thinking about it

We love Peruvian food, and were so excited to find Cora Cora. It's not much to look at outside, and isn't necessarily fancy inside. But oh, the food! It was everything we had hoped for. The only not-authentic thing was how quickly it was served. We had some friends along who had never had Peruvian food. They loved it of course. Everyone enjoyed the anticuchos, except me... not my thing. I started with tacu tacu. The pollo a la braza was wonderful, and the lomo saltado was excellent - even warmed up the next day. We got a little carried away and ordered way more than we could eat. We'll be back to try out the rest of the menu!

The service is really nice. Very friendly. They are very patient when I try ordering in Spanish. :0)We have (so far) always done take-out, but now that the weather is getting warmer, we may try to eat there. It seems very family friendly. The food is good. It seems more authentic than some chains I've been to.

I had forgotten how good it was. Or maybe it is better.I attended an evening function here, and the food was served for the meeting cafeteria style. Nevertheless, everything was excellent, especially the paella, the sausages, and the marinated chicken. Very tender.Servers were all very helpful and accommodating.

The food and service once we were seated was awesome. The salsa was great. They did a great job making a vegan friendly meal. We were there for the ninja warrior competition and they were all kinds of bizarre dietary request that they accommodated. My only criticism is that getting a seat which is way too difficult. We stood there in the way but people walking past itâs not looking at us. We felt kind of awkward
