The comforts of a friendly, small-town atmosphere combined with the pleasures of big city life make Grand Rapids an ideal choice for a fun getaway with a host of indoor and outdoor activities. Once known as the furniture capital of the world, the city has a reinvigorated downtown area and a thriving arts and cultural community. Its most popular attraction is the museum dedicated to native son Gerald R. Ford, 38th U.S. President, where interactive exhibits take you to the White House and the 1976 Republican National Convention. Wander through the state's largest tropical conservatory at the Frederik Meijer Gardens, a magical wonderland of gardens, woodlands and over 100 bronze statues by famous artists, including the 24-foot bronze horse designed by Leonardo da Vinci. More outdoor fun is a half-hour away at the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan. Golf lovers have plenty of places to hit the greens since Grand Rapids has more privately owned, daily-fee, public courses than any other U.S. city. Wind up your busy weekend with a cold beer at the Hair of the Frog Brewery or the Grand Rapids Brewing Company.

I hesitated choosing this place thinking it would not be authentic and typically like another chilis. I was WRONG, this place is great, Nice outdoor seating or standing hi top tables, great bar. To top it off they had a huge selection of Tequila brands to choose from. Tacos were very good and pricing was very inexpensive. They also serve a good Michalada which is basically a bloody mary with beer, spicy, tangy and very good. I will be back to visit the place soon

Was brought here by some friends on a stop in Grand Rapids. Great vibe, good beer, the food was average.I went with the Grandwich was is supposedly an award winner. It was good, but not as flavorful as I would have liked. Meat was a bit tough as well. The Yuca fries were interesting though. My colleague went with the Mofongo and it was unlike any we've had before. Doughy balls that really didn't have a lot of flavor.Would probably go back but try something different as the service was great and the vibe inside is fun.

MeXo

We're a restaurant and Tequila/Mezcal bar located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our cuisine brings a modern touch to the classic pre-Hispanic food of Mexico.

The menu at MeXo offers clear and detailed descriptions, which is good because many of the items are unusual. The two of us shared the crab cakes (an appetizer), the esquites (a side), and the tamale stack ( a main dish)--and had plenty of food. The tamale stack was the star! what a combination of flavors and tastes! A sous chef stopped by and gave us some background on the ingredients that go into this creation. --The cocktails were excellent as well.Price I suppose is relative--we are from Ann Arbor where they tend to be higher--but the cost seemed very reasonable for the high quality of the food. A truly standout restaurant.
