Ideally located in the heart of Cathedral City, next door to popular Trilussa and a short walk to the Marky Pickford multiplex, Pollo Dokys could easily be mistaken for a fast-food joint. The dining room is a little threadbare and the lighting fairly harsh, but that doesnât take away from the supremely savory taste of the cuisine itself. Style this slow fast-food. Itâs authentically Peruvian in its ingredients and sauces, and a very welcome addition to the Coachella Valleyâs increasingly diverse restaurant scene. The chicken is particularly crisp and tender, served in a variety of preparations. Beef is also on the menu. Fish, though âa Peruvian staple â is surprisingly absent, however, a deficiency one can only hope will be corrected soon.

Dear Reader,Do not go here! Hands down this is the worst Mexican restuarant I've ever had the displeasure to eat. There were three of us and we ordered three different dishes and we were all disappointed. Overall, I'm not a terribly picky, but I'm not sure which of was worse, the service or the food. Looking back, we should have walked out when we were greeted by a hot stuffiness (Which I learned LATER that the air conditioning had stopped working). However, we were all VERY hungry and didn't want to head back out in the 120+ heat to go somewhere else. So, seeing there were repair people going in and out, we stuck it out hoping they would get it working. Too bad for us. The hostess was friendly and immediately seated us. She offered to take our drink order. Of course, being a lover of margaritas, I ordered one. Nope, they don't serve them. Beer and wine only. I gather they don't have a liquor license. So, if you like a margarita with your food, keep looking. We place our food order. The place begins to get stifling hot because now the fans have been turned off. Anyway, we ordered a chimichanga with rice and beans, a shrimp cocktail, and a taco salad. The waitress brought us our drink order, glasses of coke and ice water. About 15 minutes later we got our food. The chimichanga was a sad, dry little thing sharing space with small piles of rice and beans. There was a few sprigs of chopped iceburg lettuce in which my dollup of sour cream sat. The taco salad was small in typically served in a small fried flour torilla. It was pathetic and I've seen much better served a Del Taco. The shimp cocktail had "too much ketchup" in which lemon and tapatio was requested to cut the sweetness.Requesting, however, doesn't mean they deliver. Wait, wait...ask again. Wait, wait..ask again. Finally 10 minutes later. Getting soda refills proved to be a challenge also. I asked when someone was walking by to please inform our waitress I was told "ok" and then I never saw that person again or our waitress for that matter. Fourth time was the charm and I got my soda refill. We just wanted out of there. I understand that the conditions were difficult, but that's no excuse for bad food and bad service. Needless to say, we won't be going back AC or no AC.

Arrived at 4:30 PM to avoid any crowds. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the service was so slow with only two servers at the time. I was excited to enjoy a Mexican meal based upon their website and menu items. The menu prices are almost twice as much as you see on their menu website. I was not prepared for that. Never received a second basket of tortilla chips during our wait for our meal. Even though the menu may say it comes with sour cream and guacamole, make sure you get it! After eating and waiting 15 to 20 minutes, we had to wave down our server to get our bill. We finally just left the money on the table and walked out. We were at the Cathedral City location. I hear the Palm Desert location is much better. There are so many great Mexican restaurants in the desert, so many to choose from, I will never waste my time here again.

We arrived at 6:15 tonight and there were plenty of empty tables......in the past years this has not been the norm! All our drinks arrived quickly and the food followed shortly.Service was nearly as good as it has always been, however they brought me the wrong dinner....my dinner came out quickly but the quality was much less than I expected and one of the two items was wrong (no body came back to check for a bit)...the cheese stuffed chili releno was skimpy on the filling with a bland tomato sauce over the top. I ordered a cheese enchalda mole style to complete my meal but they made it a chicken enchilada by mistake...it turned out to be the most disappointing enchalada I have ever eaten in my life...the chicken was the tuff dried out pieces left over from I don't know what with an old flavor and the mole was underwelming....normally we like this place but tonight something was different...my 3 friends all had great meals, I never mentioned to them how unsatisfying my turned out to be!

Salsas was recommended to us by David from the Westin Hotel in Rancho Mirage. We had Casuelas Margaritas which were excellent. My wife had charbroiled Bass over peppers and onions, and I had the chicken fajitas. Both were extremely good. Service was excellent! Highly recommended.

We have been planning to try Salsa's for a while, especially since a good friend highly recommended it recently. We went for lunch on what appeared to be a typically busy afternoon. We were seated immediately at a nice table in this crowded, boisterous little restaurant. We both ordered the enchilada and taco combo. The food was absolutely authentic and delicious. It appeared to be freshly prepared just for us. The service was indeed 'with a smile' and prices were reasonable. We will definitely return for dinner at some point soon. Really impressive and delicious and authentic food. No wonder Salsa's is ranked so highly.

We have been eating at La Tablita for many years and the food quality remains constantly good. No disappointments. Their margaritas are varies and all good. No matter what your favorite Mexican dishes are, they will probably have it and it will be excellent. Parking is good.
