Find out what Latin restaurants to try in Castro. A rainbow assortment of palafitos (wooden houses on stilts) are the unofficial calling card of Castro, the capital city of Chiloé Island. Once home to thousands of farmers and a target for European pirates, Castro was established in the 16th century and is Chilé’s third-oldest city. Highights here are the astonishing wooden church, an impressive contemporary art museum and the charming wharf in the Gamboa district.

If you love seafood, then you canât miss this place when you are in Castro. Thereâs also a lovely terrace that faces the water, offering a cosy and casual atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious, with generous portion sizes. Being a seafood lover, there were so many appetising options on the menu that it was hard to make a decision. In the end, my Boyfriend and I decided to share a starter (tuna ceviche), which was delish; the tiny pieces of strawberries added a nice fresh contrast to the flavours. As for my main, I went for the seafood broth with clams, mussels, which was yumz, though the waiter recommended the crab gratin, which did sound appealing. My boyfriend had the mussels, which was delicious, though the accompanying fries werenât that much, especially if you are used to having âmoules and fritesâ, with lots of frites. Nonetheless, the food taste was excellent, and I would go back again the next time Iâm ever in Castro!Wow, what a nice review. Thanks for so nice words! and for shared you experience with other customers.

Itâs worth the 20 minute walk out of town to find it. Authentic Chilean and Peruvian seafood dishes. Fresh, tasty and served in generous portions. The atmosphere is congenial, with a buzz of convivial conversation. Service is welcoming, swift yet unobtrusive. The sea view is memorable.

My friend and I visited the cevicheria three times during our stay in Castro after discovering the gem that is the Salmon Empanada. I have lived in Chile for a year and this is the single best empanada I have ever had, it takes a little while because the chef prepares them fresh and they come out hot. I highly reccomend. The staff and ambiance are lovely. I will sincerely miss these empandas!Gracias Laura estamos de acuerdo que la empanada es una maravilla, gracias por su visita. Saludos.
Lo único bueno son los piscos sour, muy recomendables. La comida es normal a regular. Los platos son aceitosos. El local y la atención normal a regular.
