After my previous visit to Las Mananitas I wrote a glowing review and gave it four out of five. I am sorry to say that my latest visit was terribly disappointing.Let's start by accepting that this place is hugely popular. The massive car park is often very full. There is a large multi-layered patio with great views - and this really is the place to sit when the weather is good. The food is good, although the service - including the wait times for drinks orders and the time taken for food to arrive - is very patchy. The worst aspect of this visit was the truly awful fight to get a table! First of all, you have to know where the front door is (the way to the podium, right?) which isn't necessarily as easy as it sounds because the solid door is unmarked and it is easier to walk around the side and sometimes a waiter will grab you and seat you without visiting the podium (we've seen this happen several times). But let's assume you go to the podium; and let's assume you have a booking. Well, on the basis of our recent experience, the booking means nothing. The chaotic podium means that it's the same person checking you off in the diary, then taking you to a table, often leaving the podium empty for long stretches. And then, because there's no separate line for booking, all the people without bookings fight their way to the front and will, nevertheless, often be seated before people WITH bookings. I know, because that was our experience. In the mad scramble I witnessed several groups almost coming to blows because (A) alleged that (B) had pushed in. In one case I saw an elderly guy tell the hostess that he had a reservation, only for her to rudely wave him away and seat a group who earlier told me that they didn't have a reservation! This could so easily be sorted out. A rope in the center of the passageway from the front door to the podium, and signs showing "WITH RESERVATIONS" and "WITHOUT RESERVATIONS". And then, most crucially of all, a host or hostess that was GLUED to the podium to control the guests in a proper manner - with guests with reservations given priority at their booking time.My family will think twice about going there again after that chaotic check-in and then incredibly long wait even for someone to take a drinks order.Such a shame. This place could be amazing, but instead, it's arrogant and sloppy. Someone with an eye for detail needs to manage it.

Located in the heart of the Mill Plain Road dining district in Danbury, Mezón Tapas Bar & Restaurant tastefully combines old world Spanish elegance with the passion and energy of the tropics. Our menu features an inventive fusion of Spanish, Latin America
On the first really warm day in April we (with Good pals) sat outside on the patio and throughly enjoyed a fantastic lunch. Three of us ordered and consumed the Tuna Tacos (with a side of yucca chips. Fantastic!!! Moderately priced with the support of great services. You must try Mezon !!!!

MEH, when I go for ethnic food, I prepare to go where the locals eat. despite a Latin theme, the only Latino's were the friendly and efficient help. Mojito and margarita both syrupy - and brought little joy. On the whole, overpriced for Americanized dishes heavy with cream.Bread was underwarm, and made from a mix or commercial bakery.Grilled jumbo shrimp were nicely done - juicy and spice rubbed - came with a wimpy guac. Paella Marina appetizer (which may be a neologism) seemed to be a sauteed yellow rice and fish, mounted with butter. The clams and mussels were molecular, in September.Seafood pasta was penne with shrimp and calamari in a vodka heavy cream sauce was light on the seafood, and salty and thick on the cream. Incidentally, I had asked for a plain marinara sauce (the other option was al Fredo).
