Lower Hirafu location in a small what appears to be plywood structure. Don't be fooled, have a reservation if during peak snow season and enjoy the quaint, intimate setting. Pub food with a few select variations such as the venison when we were there. Prices are reasonable, service OK, not much English, but you can get by with just a little Japanese.Good fare in the lower Hirafu area, after a hard day on the slopes, and a visit at the Yokoro Onsen, Nagomi hits the spot!

The food there was very good, and the owners were very friendly. The wagyu beef skewers melts in your mouth. It was so yummy we wanted to go back for seconds. Our toddler loved the food too. Too bad we only stayed a night here

Toya Onsen town is generally quiet and peaceful, hence even dining here had little people and was very quiet.View was great. Food was decent, but could have been better. Many online reviews mentioned quite good points about the food and price, but in our recent visit, prices have been raised for some items

Adult Hideaway in 'Wa' Modernism. Dining hall overlooking Lake Toya directly ahead. In a superb location, savor the seasonal tastes of Hokkaido presented by the chef. Kappo Japanese dining with a proud selection of Japanese sake.
this restaurant in the windsor hotel offer lots of different japanese food, but more interesting the the charcoal grill. the chicken or yaki tori is not bad and the sake selection is pretty good, but everything is quite pricey.
Food was big and delicious. Staff was super friendly. They offer scallop with egg rice, similar to chicken with egg rice, but this is a rare find, at least this is my first time seeing this item in a Japanese restaurant. Probably because Hokkaido is well known for their scallop. It comes with miso soup with scallop as well. The miso soup was super delicious with scallop and seafood favour. This is a must have.

Visited as a couple for lunch while touring the Toyako area. We were told this one is a local favorite.. so decided to check it out. This restaurant is located relatively far down the Toya Shopping strip and about as far from the ship boarding area as you can get... which was sort of perfect for us to wrap up the walk. The town is not large, anyway. Upon entry we found it about half filled on a weekday with all locals. There are about 10 counter seats and a large number of tatami tables for families--typical of local ramen joints. The restaurant is most definitely family run--husband, wife, son were all working the rounds. The specialty of the restaurant is soy sauce based ramen which they have two type--"black" and "red". This is in addition to offering of other standard ramen--miso, shio, etc.. They also have a specialty condiment which is some sort of a "dough" which absorbs the soup. The broth here is also a little different from your typical Tokyo or Fukuoka shop in that it is relatively thinner and lighter--more like a stock--though salty nonetheless. Noodles are typical Hokkaido thicker type high in alkaline content. We ordered a black, a red, and a gyoza. I was a little amused to see the red is not actually red... just a term. But per the owners explanation (before I ordered), the "black" is characterized by extra intense soy sauce soup base, while the "red" has extra shio addition to the broth--not to denote colour of the soup. The ramen was quite simple but satisfying. We also ordered extra egg and chashu... the eggs were perfectly good, chashu is of the softer type, which I actually prefer. Gyoza filling was average but served lip smackingly crisp.Overall, pretty good bowl and we actually felt surprisingly good after the meal unlike some other ramen meals which often leave you lethargic or dehydrated an hour or two after eating. Given the lack of other great options in Toyako town... would recommend this for a quick and easy meal.

Walked into this restaurant after our stroll along lake Toya to have lunch. Their udon had a chewy texture and the curry katsu rice was flavorful. If visiting in the winter and you would like a dessert that can warm you up, do try their warm soup with rice cake. There is a tinge of nuts and when eaten with the rice cakes, the blend of the soup with rice cakes does wonders. The cold soup with rice cakes and red bean is also a must try.

If you find yourself in Toyako Onsen, the town on the southwest shore of Lake Toya, don't miss this outstanding soba restaurant:The shop is one street back (away from the lake) from the main lakeside road, on a southwest corner. No English menu, no Englis
Its located just across from the Toya Onsen Bus Terminal. It was closed on 2 evenings but we were happy to find it open for an early lunch (11.15am) just before we had to leave. Simple, yummy food, especially nice on a rainy afternoon.
