The restaurant is called Tonkatsu Wako. We tried the Rosukatsu Nabe set which was very tender and juicy. It comes on a hot plate with a runny egg cooked on top of the pork (similar to Katsudon) - the rice and soup is separate.Opens at 10am.

Had some free time after checking in and have bought some Japanese goodies, so I have decided to take a walk up stairs where all the restaurants are at. Out of many options only couple of places open. I had to try japan famous “Nagoya kochin” chicken. Set of chicken include soup and wings cost just little over $10. Everything was perfect. I almost ordered another set but I wasn’t confident to finish so I quit there. I do however highly recommend this place but this little place does get full fast.

It's a restaurant of "Una-don", eel dipped and broiled in soy-based sauce topped on thebowl of rice. And another popular dish, "Hitsumabushi" is a regional cuisine made with eel that is eaten mainly in the Nagoya area. You can eat both of them here. An eel is not bad, but the cost is far from cheap. You often see long queues in front of the restaurant for a lunch and a dinner. Most staffs are young and don't speak English.

After circling restaurants in the airport we settled on Maruha somewhat by chance and were most pleasantly surprised. It’s tucked in the northwest corner of the third floor near one of the access points for the sky deck. We ordered a shrimp and sushi set ($18 USD) and a grilled fish and sushi set ($13 USD). With drinks the total was about $38 USD. The prawns were humongous and the fish was all super fresh and nicely prepared. A nice selection of classic Japanese sides rounded out the meal. It was an excellent value.

The very popular and well-known Yabaton has a branch at the NGO Centrair Airport and is just as delicious as its other branches downtown.Just as their mascot indicates, Yabaton is known for their pork. Hence, the pork tonkatsu with its unique Nagoya-style miso sauce is the signature dish. The pork is cooked just tender and with a light coating. The miso sauce is very earthy and is a nice comfortable palate bath that does not have a biting tang that hits the front part of the tongue. Very hearty meal that will sustain one for the duration of a flight.Best part? In and out in less than 30 minutes, great for walking and exploring the Centrair Airport to walk off a meal and relax before a flight.
