This is just a great place - beautiful Japanese design, nothing in excess, and just a wonderful cuisine. Flounder is a must try - probably best sushi Iâve ever tried in my life. Maodon sashimi - 16 varieties of sashimi - is amazing. Staff is very nice and helpful (one of the ladies also speaks perfect English which is quite helpful for non-Mandarin speakers). If you want rolls (not hand rolls, btw hand roll with asparagus is great here) please ask staff, itâs a special, not in the menu. The bill they bring you first thing is not for payment, but simply to make sure all you gave ordered was served. In terms of specials they also serve pomelo and banana plum wine - nice scent!

It's a single set meal with 5 courses but it was done very well and with a skill and nuance that was surprising in the small city that's Tainan. Very much enjoyed every course especially the starter kettle soup, the white fish salad and the rice dish with chicken soup. Great service too - the front desk lady very helpfully called us a cab as it was late.

The chef is very skillful. I was very impressed by the tenderness of the fish on the day of my visit. I also enjoyed the attentive service and a pleasant atmosphere.
