We had dinner after a tiring day on the slope. Even though we are staying near Nagano train station, we drive all the way out here (around 10km) to try the local beef which was delicious but not as fatty as Kobe beef. Definitely worth the drive.

A huge place. Still quite traditional but very busy. Good facilities as long as you don’t mind amount of people that visit at busier times. Visited Saturday evening when it was mostly families so very relaxed atmosphere

Recommended by a Japanese friend, I stop by mid afternoon for desserts. Known for its chestnut creations (both savoury lunch and desserts), I went for the dessert.Zenzai is a traditional Japanese dessert I picked, with chestnut ingredients. It's a thick sweet soup consists of chestnut paste served with mochi (rice cake). Very good pairing with the tea, and some pickles. Sat by the window, with view of the blue sky and distant mountain. Great ambiance too!

We were recommended this place by our hostel (Guest House Kura) and we were not disappointed. The Pork Katsu with sauce was huge, fresh and delicious. It came with a miso soup, small salad and pickles and all for only Y920. The best port katsu I've had in Japan. They have an English menu and you can also get a half serving size of the pork katsu or a combo with soba noodles.
