Discover Restaurants offering the best Japanese food in South Bend, Indiana, United States. The 150-year-old University of Notre Dame is South Bend's biggest tourist draw, and for good reason. Though it's not easy to land seats at the 80,000-plus-capacity Notre Dame Stadium for a "Fighting Irish" football game, you'll find plenty of attractions on the beautiful, expansive campus. Highlights include numerous works of art, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a replica of the famous shrine. Football fans will also want to visit the College Football Hall of Fame, which features interesting perspectives on the game and inductee videos. Whether or not you remember the Studebaker automobile, which saw its demise in the early sixties, you're sure to enjoy the Studebaker National Museum, featuring more than 75 vehicles drawn from the history of the company, beginning with horse-drawn carriages. South Bend has several fine museums, including the South Bend Regional Museum of Art and the Northern Indiana Center for History, a complex of four museums. Don't leave without trying truffles or fudge from the South Bend Chocolate Company.

I've been twice now, and both times I have enjoyed Woochi. The atmosphere is fun, modern and enjoyable. Food presentation is great, but it also tastes delicious. It is really nice to have adventurous food options closer to our home. Will be returning again and again.

I came here based on the glowing, enthusiastic reviews. You know it's the real deal when Quail eggs, Mackerel, and Octopus are on the menu, and they get points for that alone. I ordered Japanese noodles with vegetables, which came with miso soup (correctly covered) and a side salad. The miso soup was decent and the salad OK as I didn't care for the ginger dressing (somewhat bitter) on iceberg lettuce. The noodles wer quite good with a slightly sweet thin sauce. In addition, I had a quail egg (yummy) and two generous pieces of mackerel sushi, which didn't seem very fresh. Still, even with ny criticisms, Matuba is better than most Japanese restaurants and I would go back.

Took my 11yr old daughter out for sushi. We shared the Dream Roll and the South Bend Roll, absolutely delicious!! My daughter said she would rather eat sushi than have dessert any day! Excellent service. They also serve other Chinese and Japanese food, but we only had the sushi and hot tea. We will definitely be coming back. And they are located next to Notre Dame.
