This was not our first time here. Friends were in town and we wanted a decent meal. It is usually our first choice on such occasions.Fried pork cuttlets. Rice, flavoured or non-flavoured. Miso soup. Heapings of shredded cabbage with a choice of dressing. Pickles. These are the spales, and they are very good. We always consider alternatives, like fried oysters or shrimp, but always end up with the crunchy, juicy cutlets. Not disappointed. Our friends loved it, too.

We loved the food and atmosphere of this small place that we went back two nights in a row. The owner is just a delight, so welcoming and friendly, and she's a terrific cook, as are her assistants. She definitely serves the most delicious okonomiyaki that we have had in our travels through Japan. Highly recommended!

Routinely readying Japanese food culture's okonomiyaki, yakisoba, local gourmet dishes specialising in Okayama ingredients and drinks. Okonomiyaki is a Japanese food that consists of enjoying your added "okonomi," or preferred ingredients together with a
We love (cooked) oysters, so walked here easily from our hotel near the station. Clues: it is on the main street, has 5 small lanterns out front and locals know it as Mori, the chef's name. Although there's no English sign, the phone number is visible on the awning, so you can recognize that. It's a little place, just 3 tables western style plus more Japanese low tables. If oysters (kaki) are in season (fall and winter), order the kaki-oko from the smiling waitress, who will also bring an English menu. You can watch Mori cook it at his grill. We had our hotel call ahead to make sure they had the oysters. We paid 980 yen each for kakioko, plus 550 for 1 beer. When we left, Mori followed us out to take photos of us with our camera. A very friendly place!Thank you for coming. The contribution of the word of mouth is also a feeling.

To eat Chinese soba and cutlet bowls in Okayama City, go to [Dining room Yamato]. Familiar with Class B gourmet, including Okayama sauce and rice bowl and Chinese soba, We have popular menus such as yakimeshi and various ramen. You can also take out recom

It might be a quick snack for locals, but we always find an okonomiyaki experience great fun. We came here twice, first for sobayaki with seafood, then for okonomiyaki seafood. Only a few words of English spoken, but we successfully organised mixed seafood instead of meat fillings. Would like to have had a stab at some of the other teppan offerings, but we don't eat meat and weren't confident. Friendly service, with quick turnover. Unbelievable cheap, too!

Ippudo, our ramen restaurant, was first established in 1985 in Hakata, Fukuoka. Currently in 2017, we have over 100 stores throughout Japan. In 1990, our founder, Shigemi Kawahara, entered the Hall of Fame for winning the the ramen competition of the show
My partner and I had the gyoza, the siromaru special (basic pork broth, with extras: seaweed, bean sprouts, extra pork, an egg), and the akamaru special (the same, but slightly spicy). It all went in several minutes of silence. Pure oishi ("tasty").It's cheap, too! (Note: they have a menu in English)

Breaded pork cutlets in a thick sauce, on a bed of rice, and with a miso soup accompaniment - recommended! This is a local speciality, and very reasonably priced. What is slightly weird, to this westerner 's eyes, is that you order from a machine at the entrance and pay there, in advance, too. The dish I just described was 800 or 900 yen, depending on whether you wanted no fat at all on your cutlet. The restaurant was recommended on the Lonely planet guide and it was a good recommendation in this case - I didn't check trip advisor on this one!Rustic and cheap!

Went there for dinner. Big mistake. The restaurant is located in Okayama train station. No tables. Only a counter. The place is small and not pleasant. Rated number 5 in TripAdvisor. The quality of the sushi was not good enough. The stuff were nice and helpful. The beer was good.

While it's called 'soba', the noodles they serve here is actually ramen. The Hishio Soba broth is sweet, fragrant and robust. The chashu comes in moderately thick slices of pork belly, which tasted like soya-braised meat. I would prefer it to be leaner though. I ordered the Hishio Soba with Shima rice set. The rice tasted different; I thought that the rice might be cooked with barley, please correct me if I'm wrong. We thought that kaedama, since it is free, will be just a small portion of plain noodles. Surprisingly, the kaedama comes as a single serving complete with small pieces of marinate pork and thin slices of seaweed on top. We enjoyed our meal very much.(If you are intending to visit Kurashiki - they also have an outlet there, note that the outlet at Kurashiki is smaller than at Okayama and only counter seats.)
