This little restaurant was quite hard to find, and we ended up asking someone Japanese who had Google maps. But worth the hunt. We were the only non-locals in at the time we visited. Very limited menu, not written down. The matron speaks english and was really charming, as was her son. You can sit at chairs or on the floor and are served with either green tea or water and noodles and tempura. Very good, fresh food. We paid 2000 yen for two of us. Lovely little gem.

Ringo no Ie is a nice restaurant/shop in Apple Park. It has a lot of Hirosaki goods, apples and good food. It's a good place for lunch before continuing further, or back towards Hirosaki downtown. Prices are touristy, but not nearly as bad as in bigger cities.

Cozy and warm with classy yet modern wood furniture. We had Forest hot coffee and also an iced coffee which wonderfully matched with a slice of the fluffiest chiffon cake that was made soya powder. Looks very unassuming from the outside with just large handwritten Japanese words for coffee. But the inside is definitely very hipster. Highly recommended.

Aqua Green Village is the starting point for hikes to Anmon Falls. It is a place to park your vehicle, grab a tasty and inexpensive lunch, and answer nature's call before and/or after taking to the trail.The facility also includes public baths, inexpensive overnight lodgings, and an awesome-looking set of hillside sliding boards for kids and kids-at-heart. Note: the hiking trail to Anmon Falls was temporarily closed (for construction?) during my visit in early June 2015. A short, nice-enough alternative trail into the beech forest was available. In the short term, however, you may wish to ask ahead if your heart is set on seeing Anmon Falls.
