Skipped the downtown shop due to the crazy queue. Grabbed a few of the onigiris for brekkie in the domestic terminal before our flight home. The mentaiko & Ebi version tasted heavenly. Warmed us up instantly on a chilly winter morning. Simple yet comforting Okinawan rice âsandwichâ. Must try when you visit Okinawa. Should another shop in the International Terminal.

This was a great experience if you are traveling alone or with others. Zooey introduces the class to the culture and cuisine of Okinawa quite well. I took my father (83 yrs old) who doesnât cook and he had the time of his life. This is very hands on and practical. We made soba noodles from scratch! I would try to book this early in the trip as it gives travelers insight into the culture of Okinawa thatâs useful. The beer is extra, but quite delicious. I would like to go back to eat at the restaurant, I bet it is fantastic.

Ate at Shuri Soba after visiting Shuri castle. The woman in charge was super friendly and spoke a little English. No English menu but there are some pictures and only a few choices so not a problem ordering. We had the soba, a rice bowl and a plate of stewed meat, tofu and veggies. All delicious at a reasonable price.

Thought there wouldn't be good specialty restaurants on major shopping streets, but I was wrong. The soba (Okinawa Soba, which is different from other Soba of Japan) is so tender and chewy, and the broth is so tasteful. The restaurant isn't facing the main street so it's a little bit hard to find. Just remember it's in the alley, so make a turn and it's about 30 feet down.

Mikado was a nice local eatery run by four older ladies cooking up some simple Okinawan meals along with the usual Japanese dishes. The retro vibe of the place was inviting and had an authentic feel. The Okinawan soki soba (noodles with pork rib topping) had pretty big chunk of ribs and the tofu champuru (stir fried tofu) was a good alternative to goya champuru (bitter melon stir fry). Katsudon (fried pork fillet over rice) was also filling and tasty.

Housed in a traditional Okinawa building, you can have a meal facing the garden; the whole atmosphere was good. Food wise was average - had the set with soba (this is more akin to chinese noodles than ramen, with pork soup broth), some appetizers, and jyushi (mixed rice). Expect to wait around 15 to 20 minutes during peak lunch hours.

Super friendly owner with 390 yen recommended Okinawa soba! The pork was absolutely tasty, the soup is different with traditional Tokyo ramen, it is more clear and light taste...The shop located in a very hidden street, you need to spend some time to find it, also it is very small and traditional Japanese style dinner, with tatami seat.

We had such a great experience at Yunangi. We were lucky that we arrived at around 6.30pm on a Saturday night, and only had to wait about 10 mins before being seated. We were given one of the tables on the raised floor which was fun. Whilst waiting we had ordered and so food started to arrive soon after we had been seated. We got a few dishes to share and all were excellent. The miso pork was very good with a real depth of flavour and succulent meat. We also had a lovely tofu dish with mwat, which was my favourite, and a few other stir fried dishes which were equally good.By the time we were finishing our meal, the queue was out the door which showed how popular the place is. We were really pleased with our meal and so happy to have tried some fantastic Okinawan cuisine.
