We are a locally owned restaurant slinging fresh, made to order Poke!
This was not at all what I expected. There is not a bit of Hawaiian food in the restaurant. No BBQ pork, no pineapple, no poi, no spam. This is a Japanese fusion restaurant from the sashimi served on the bowls to the beverages in the drink fridge. Itâs Japanese. The food was good and fresh. My disappointment come from the 100% lack of concern for the environment. Plastic cups, bowls, silverware, and beverages. This is a sit down restaurant after you place your order the lack of environmental sensitivity is disturbing. Though the food was good probably wonât be back for this reason.

We decided to try this brand new restaurant for a quick Asian meal one weekend afternoon for lunch. Located in a brand new busy shopping area, we were excited to try Hiroshi Teriyaki Grill, hoping to discover a new fast meal favorite. Well, we tried it.The menu was limited yet adequate, and food was prepared fresh, but our dishes were just average. Vegetables in our Chicken Teriyaki and Yakitori meals were sparce and mushy, not at all what I expected, even from fast food. This restaurant features online ordering, which is convenient. Service was average.Bottom line: Unfortunately, Hiroshi Teriyaki Grill will not be our first choice for Japanese/Asian fast food in the Johnstown, CO, area in the future.

My spouse couldn't join me, so I decided to eat by myself. The wait staff was attentive without being annoying, and when I vetoed the counter, she quickly seated me at a booth. The Lunch specials last from 11 am to 4 pm, and aren't cheap, but there is a lot of variety. I chose the Sushi lunch, with a California Roll and a Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll. The miso soup was excellent; salad was iceberg lettuce with ginger dressing, which wasn't anything special. The sushi came with a generous serving of both wasabi and sliced ginger, which I appreciated. The pot of hot tea was expensive, so I took the leftovers in a go cup. Only quibble was that patrons were seated close together, even tho there was plenty of room to spread out. I had my magazine, but the couple at the next table was pretty loud. Sounded like a date, and the guy did most of the talking. Next time, I'll ask for a table in the corner. I like the clean and spacious restroom and their large fish tank, and I'll try this restaurant again with a friend.
...on a Saturday evening while all the chains nearby were packed. Oh yea, it's because people gravitate more toward what they are familiar with rather than the unknown. Well, let's make this place well known. My family and I are sushi foodies and appreciate good, adventurous menus. Blue Fin was just that. While they had the usual rolls, nigiri, uramaki, sashimi, handrolls, etc., they offered unique items as well. Finding a collar on a menu in America is uncommon. Blue fin offered it and it was delightful. A fatty and delicate portion that is often thrown away by anglers and mongers. We also enjoyed a rarely found white tuna that melted in our mouths. Last, a unique sushi that was set in the pitted cavity of an avocado, rolled in a light batter, and quickly fried. They do have non sushi items for those that do not enjoy sushi, including sukiyaki! My only gripe is the krab that was identified on the menu as crab.
