Find out what Japanese restaurants to try in Guayaquil. Founded in the 1530s, Ecuador's largest city and main port is the top access point for Galapagos cruises and home to a bustling import-export business. Tourism is on the rise as well, thanks to a new international airport and urban renewal projects along the River Guayas promenade and in the historic neighborhood of Las Peñas. The 465-step climb to the top of Santa Ana Hill provides sweeping views and a chance to stand on the site of the city's birthplace.

I walked in to find an empty restaurant, which is a bit worrisome, but then I realized I was perhaps too early! The restaurant offers amazingly creative sushi with great taste and presentation. The service was impeccable.

Located in one of the most upstanding neighborhoods of Guayaquil, this little restaurant surprises for the quality of its food. When we crawl for raw fish, we know the place we need to visit is Yamato even if its not the most fashionable place in town. Tuna, Salmon, Eel... are are usually better than plain good and dishes such as Smoked Eel with rice make a good complement to any sushi meal. Drinks are not spectacular a neither is desert, however you can go some places for them. Be aware that the place does not accept reservations so if you are in a "big" (over 3) group you may need to wait for some time.PROS: Fresh food and preparationCONS: No reservation, No special drinks or desserts

Lagos Plaza is a beautiful mall with a dozen of restaurants surrounded by water, very nice. Be aware this is not the tipical Ecuadorian place, more like a place in the US, but very nice and interesting for people watching in the evening.Staff is very friendly and helpful.Food is ok but not really good, I had much better sushi and fusion food, but it is ok.So conclusion: more for people watching in a nice neighborhood than for the food....good for a nice evening.Dear client,Thank you for take a time to write about us and thank you for your visit. We will work on more proposals that you will surely like.We hope see you soon again¡Best Regards!

The sushi was really really good but the prices just didn't seem to justify it. Very expensive restaurant. The menu selection is overwhelming. Very large with lots of options. The rolls were all really good with a significant influence of Ecuadorean fusion. Not just regular rolls. The service is good. Atmosphere is ok. Good place to have sushi but it will cost you.

My first experience with traditional Sushi was in Isao an they never disappoint. Yes, this is not a "fine dinning" restaurant, if you are looking for a fancy place with all the whistles and spectacle... this is not your place at all.But if you want really tasty and delicious traditional sushi, THIS IS YOUR PLACE... Noe could be fancy... but Isao is way more tastier (the food melt in your mouth!) and more affordable...!We appreciate all your comments we are glad you enjoyed our menu throughlyHope to see you soon
