I'm a relative newbie to the sushi world. Each and every time I go out I try something new. I've eaten sushi at many different restaurants on three different Hawaiian islands, London, and five continental United States. Wasahi is right up there in my top four. They are always warm and welcoming. They are very helpful in describing their different selections.Negatives, the location is a little off putting as it is in a tiny strip mall sectioned between Subway and a Smokes4less. And the inside isn't any better as the interior is rather dark and dated. That being said the sushi stands alone. The crowing glory of the Northland sushi community.
I finally made a stop here to pick up a bowl after doing a little grocery shopping. I came in around 5:30pm on a Sunday and there wasn't anybody else there. The staff greeted me when I came in and I noticed a sign on the glass that said to go to the cashier to pay first, so that's what I did. I got the medium bowl, but then had to flip through the book to tell her the things I wanted instead of seeing it in the display. That was weird. Anyway, I got the spring mix with cucumbers, salmon, white tuna (escolar), and yellowtail. I noticed that they had the rice options in rice steamers, which is also strange to me. I don't want warm/hot rice under my cold raw fish or wilting my greens, but that's just me. I was unimpressed with the amount of greens I got. It was about 1/2 a cup. The nice girl behind the counter kept asking me if I was sure I didn't want additional things which I declined. The amount of fish was fine. It definitely wasn't generous but I would guess it was about 4-5 ounces. Everything looked reasonably fresh but the display wasn't bountiful, which I understand. They want to keep waste down. I finally got to taste it when I got home and it was...fine? It definitely tasted fresh and was light, which was what I was craving. The wasabi mayo had no kick, but it did add a nice creaminess to the bowl and dressed everything. For $11 for a medium half full bowl I didn't get value for money or a great flavor. I probably won't be back unless I have a particular craving for this. I think if they dropped the price a dollar or two that would be more in line with what you get. It's a good option and I'm glad their there, but I'll just go to my usual sushi place for my raw fish fix.

Wanted to try this place out. We always saw cars in the lot. The food was great. The chef was very entertaining. You did receive a good amount of food. The sauces were a little different. One they called a "gravy"? They ask if you want it on your rice. My suggestion is to get it on the side. Never seen or heard of a Japanese "gravy". I personally did not care for it at all. At least it was an option if you wanted to use it. The only negative thing I have to say about the place is that the place was not dirty by any means, but it could really use a real deep cleaning.Would definitely come back again
