セットメニューなどもあり、紙に書いてオーダーしました。平日の利用のため混んでおらず、お酒を飲みながら食事をゆっくり楽しむ事ができました。

赤穂城址の大手門前にある。城下町の観光資源を歩いて回り疲れ果てたところに「穴子丼」の文字が目に飛び込んできた。疲労困憊の身には魅力的なメニューだ。入店すると、テーブル席を中心とする配置で、家族連れに好適。穴子丼はちょうどウナギを穴子に置き換えたような外見で、福福とした穴子の身に少し甘めのたれが何とも言えない。難を言えば少しごはんが少なめか。他にも穴子料理があり、瀬戸内の穴子が満喫できるラインナップだ。

It was coincidental that we dropped by the shop, Ashiya Otemon-mae store is well situated (diagonally opposite) of Akojo Otemon. We walked by this as we are about to cross over to Ako castle entrance. The street is a rather old-fashioned townhouse-style so do expect at the Ashiya Otemon-mae store to find real good traditional Japanese sweets of Ako. We tried out their鹽味bun green tea and also 鹽 Fukumi, ingredients definitely include the indigenous Ako salt! It was brisk business as many other visitors (local) are also queuing. We try out the various type of Japanese sweets and they even provide light tea, good after your test-tasting. Bought much salted caramel cookies..Inside there is another Teahouse which we did not ventureDo have a look while you are enroute to visiting the castle.

この冬シーズン2回目の訪問となりました。牡蠣シーズンの人気店には変わりなく午前11時開店の40分前に到着したところ、既に入店待ちの行列が"しおさい市場"建物の外へ駐車場まで伸びていました。焼き牡蠣コーナーへは、約2時間待ちとなり、2巡目でやっと案内されました。焼き牡蠣ばかりだと飽きるので、蒸し牡蠣やその他の料理を選択してオーダーしました。猶、焼き牡蠣を選択しなければ座敷もあり、こちらは回転が早くなっていました。

I was impressed by the service and how friendly the staff were to me. It is not a huge place and is quite comfortable. It is a family owned and operated business and has a wide selection of locally brewed sake from the nearby town of Sakoshi as well as a wide selection of Japanese beers. The food was delicious (Oycy) and it was presented beautifully. I would not go to Ako again without going back to this restaurant for their oyster okonomiyaki!

Recommend one of the steak and lobster sets! Very good-sized portions and flavour to match!Drink list limited but then this is Ako!
