Reviews on Italian food in Tubingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. Some towns have peach festivals. Some have blueberry festivals. Some even have onion festivals. All of those are nice, but we think Tubingen made the right call in hosting a chocolate festival. It’s the biggest in Europe and is held in early December. At any time of year, travelers will enjoy exploring this sweet-toothed university town.
Things to do in Tubingen

It should be a 3.5. Actually, we went there as a group and I had read the reviews before, so I did not expect a lot! But I cannot confirm the poor reviews concerning the service and staff. They were very friendly and accommodated us exactly the right way!Unfortunately, the food was average only. The pizzas just OK, noting special. The cannelloni were even cold inside; the good thing were the antipasti and the carmelli. But still, due to the friendly people, we had a nice evening. Prices are fair.

First the good news: parking is easy, the decor is attractive, there is a small outside area for summer dining, and the four barrel-aged wines on the list (e.g. Banfi Chianti Riserva), priced in the low twenties, offer good value. There is a long seasonal menu with some interesting choices, shown with prices on the website, and an even longer one of Italian standards, unpriced on the website but offered at reasonable prices. Service was friendly. The problem at our meal was the standard of cooking. A redeeming feature of Salmone agli aromi with spaghetti was the fresh tarragon in the cream sauce, but the large plate of pasta and the sea of fatty sauce, on the point of curdling, was far from appetising, and the fish was overcooked. Similarly, a saving grace of Pappardelle with Pfifferlinge in sage butter was the shavings of fresh truffle but again the amount of fatty sauce made the dish heavy and unbalanced. In summary: good value if you're hungry, but fine cooking it isn't.

Two years of excellent food and service experiences that went through a management change a few months ago, and now it is back to the standards established for many years. The Swedish âdisasterâ caught them during the transition. Our party of eight left the selection of the dishes to the wait staff and enjoyed the fresh fish, pasta and wine selection. The homemade buffalo mozzarella is served as a âballâ; as it is in Italy with a touch of balsamic. The prosciutto, and other antipasti accompaniments were excellent. The only perceptible change were the serving sizes that were larger than the previous visits. In the warmer months try the outdoor tables in back of the restaurant, along the river bank.

Bella Roma is undergoing right now renovation - for a short period. It will open very soon with renewed kitchen and restaurant. We go there very often and enjoy the wooden stove pizza and the Italian style salads. It is very popular with students and also other local customers. Nice service and nice tables.

This place has only 3 tables outside, which is why one could walk past it. We ordered the risotto and it was delicious. Prices were reasonable and staff very polite. The only let down was the very slow service due to the restaurant being packed.

Local residents recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We took our friends and enjoyed a special evening together. The ambience is welcoming. Dressing up or down is fine. Enough soft furnishings help hearing. We sampled all courses; everything, including the fish, was delicious. The food is Italian.

Our family had lunch twice here in the past couple of months. Both experiences were the same- Food and ambience great, service not good! The most memorable dish, which was a special, was the grilled salmon with white asparagus and a lemon butter sauce, it was wonderful. Definitely the best salmon dish I've had in Tubingen since we have lived here!! The ambience is romantic in a stone setting with candles and the Sicilian house white wine, very good! It's definitely a really cool space. Unfortunately the servers are not very friendly and are not attentive at all. You have to chase them down to order anything. I hope they work on that because if they do it would be a 5 star experience!

We dropped in for a late dinner (21:30) and were delighted by the friendly welcome and in general the friendly service, also the nice decor. We both ordered pasta dishes, which came quickly, in fact a bit too quickly to be a relaxed dinner. The food tasted good but it fell short of being great. (Perhaps we were spoiled by the excellent restaurant we recently visited in Nürnberg). Somehow it appeared hastily prepared and not lovingly made from scratch. The panna cotta for dessert tasted good but was so soft the waitress has to apologise for it.Overall the experience was okay, and in fact the food fair for the pretty good price (30EUR for two main courses, a shared dessert, a beer and a mineral water). Just not the Italian where you would say "we must go back".If you find my review helpful, I would appreciate your vote.

Sitting outside in summer is nice. Reservation recommended. The Pizza are good and large. The fish plates overpriced for what you get and the quality you get. I had salmon with asperagus. Cost â¬26. Small piece of salmon, totally overcooked. 3 small asperagus, also overcooked and totally soft. 1 lemon wedge, that was fresh. For ⬠26 at other places you get a plate of prime beef with vege and sides and salat.....The other plate we had was spaghetti with parmesan and truffle. Also â¬26. Taste was good and generous shaving of truffles, but it was swimming in oil or butter which made it quite heavy on the stomach.
