Excellent recommendation from our hosts at La Gerla Blu, friendly and welcoming, wood-burning fireplace, friendly locals in restaurant. Everything on the menu is local and home-made. I could not resist, had appetizer, primi, secondi and dessert. We felt as if we were part of the family. Owner and cook are very proud of what they do, and rightly so.

Very tasty food, gracious and pleasant service. The facility itself is not really up to the quality of the food served - it is a combination bar and cafe, with some outside seating. Quite informal. The environment can be quite loud at times because of the patrons at the bar, or because of the bell ringing from the local church. So, although the ambience is not perfect, the food and service is excellent. Relatively expensive, but in my opinion, worth it for the food quality and the gracious, attentive service.

This is an excellent family owned restaurant to taste the authentic meals of Carnia, a northern area of Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The location is pleasant and nearby the Art Park. The building is an historic site and ambience is rustic and charming. There's an amazing fireplace-room, one of the few examples left of hood-ceiling. Seats are around the fire, according to the "fogolar" (local fireplace) tradition. Meals are excellent, all hand made using the local products and many ingredients come from the nearby family farm, while the recipes remark the local tradition. Menu is seasonal, following what the harvest has to offer. Starters are intriguing, we liked the pumpkin cake and the mountain "radicchio" (very rare to find and only wild) salad. The first courses are excellent. Traditional Cjarsons (ravioli type pasta filled with herbs and spices, however it varies in the different valleys of Carnia) are a must, but partridge ravioli and homemade pasta "blecs" with boar sauce are really special. We are not much of meat lovers so we preferred going for the very good cheese selection and another starter as second course. Cakes are delicious, we would return just for the tasty chocolate cake (crusty on the outside and creamy in the inside!!!)! They have a good selection of grappas and many home made spirits. Prices are fair, service is appropriate and sober. We definitely recommend Stella D'Oro in Villa di Verzegnis and we wish to return soon.

Somewhat outside Tolemezzo next to a busy street and fuel station but still worth a visit and better then the tourist traps inside the town center. Lots of locals having lunch here. Size of the courses is mega. Single primo piati is sufficient for average guest. Pasta is excellent

Some friends and I ended up in this small charming restaurant by chance, after lunch hour. We had a great meal: from the wine advised by the cook/owner, their home made Salame and cheese with warm bread, to the first courses served. We had Cjarsons alle erbe and Gnocchi and they were both to die for, absolutely perfect. My boyfriend and I already agreed in coming back. The cook and the waitress have been more than fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure all was perfect, and being the only 5 people having 'lunch' at 4pm we ended up having a VIP treatment but that seems to be their usual to all costumers, judging by the other reviews. They totally deserve the 5 stars.

Nice restaurant with newly refurbished interiors and local food. Really recommended to book in advance if you don't want to be disappointed as it's really popular and it takes also a while for service as many others have written in their reviews. Nevertheless, nice place and good food, really recommended

we got here totally by mistake, we were on our way to Venice, you need to put the location in your GPS since its difficult to get there, on our way we drove up the hills and enjoyed an amazing view of the area, you need to just keep on going until you get there...when we arrived the owner greeted us and we sat in his beautiful garden. he and his wife pick mushrooms and dry them, we ate a delicious pasta dish with mushrooms, sausages and a salad from the vegetables in his garden. after that we ate homemade tirimisu and ice cream. AMAZING!!this place was incredable, its also a bed and breakfast, a guy staying there went to pick mushrooms with the owners wife and we will definitely come here for our next visit in Italy.
