Pizza does not get any better than this! We have now visited on several occasions as we have bought a home in the area. It is always busy with locals ( a good sign), and the staff are universally friendly and helpful. Franco, the owner and chef now treats us like family. There is a huge selection of pizza on offer but the staff will always cater for particular likes and dislikes and it is easy to customise your selection. The ingredients are fresh and there are daily variations available. Freshly cooked pasta base with oil is brought to the table within minutes of arrival so you have something to nibble with a drink whilst making your choice of pizza. Children are looked after with plenty of drawing materials while their food is prepared. This is a delightful establishment and I cannot recommend it too highly.

At lunch and at dinner in the warm months you can sit outside under an arbour and eat delicious fish in an area where meat is the norm. We live nearby and have been going there for years, on our way up from Grosseto to Scansano. It is very much a local restaurant and the proprietors are known to everyone. We love it.Thank you so much for the review. I expect you soon. regards Alessandro

This is a family restaurant, the owner has featured in several cookery books and well deserved too! We were the first in and the last to leave. We had sliced steak, fried artichokes, potatoes flavoured with local herbs and home made pasta with a wild boar sauce. We finished off with apple pie and cream and home made chocolate soufflé, oh it was gorgeous. My mouth is watering just describing it a day laterWithin a half hour of our arrival at an empty restaurant, the place was full of families, the noise level rose as the food was served and eaten. A true delight and we'd love to go back.

The location is beautiful and the service is spectacular!! The food is better than any commercial restaurant and is fresh from the surrounding land. The kids had a lot of fun visiting the animals and swimming in the pool. We are still at the table drinking the house wine. We will definately come back. Would recommend this place to everyone who would like to visit a quiet place in Tuscany. From 1 - 10 I would rate this place a 20. Thank you Loriano and family for such a great experience!

The chef looks like he can't decide between being an artist, a pirate or both. The decor suggests a bit of a pyschodelic bric a brac shop. But, fortunately, he knows what he is doing in the kitchen. We were very content with a pasta dish and a glass of wine on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. We started as the only two customers even thought it was late. More folks drifted in. My main concern was the WC. It is accessed down some dark and rickety stairs and through a very weird series of storage and sitting rooms. When you get there, there is little bulb in the ceiling; no soap, no paper towels, toilet paper will have to do we are literally and figuratively in the dark about cleanliness. Is this where the kitchen staff makes their ablutions? Hopefully, they have a sink and soap closer to home.Despite the obvious economic sustenance of the town and area's wine region, the place looks like it is in difficult times. The city is a bit scruffy, but still seems safe. I'm glad we were just passing through.Thank you Ulisse4 for your review, and I must compliment you for your sensitivity in the art of observation! yes I studied art and I wanted to be a painter but then I chose to work in restaurants going around so many countries around the world, also doing the cook on boats cruising the Mediterranean and crossing the Atlantic Ocean to get to the Caribbean, so you absolutely reason I feel a little cook a little artist and a little pirate! the "style" of the restaurant a little bric a brac and psychedelic is also this part of me and my partner because we have been doing art and antiques dealers for years. For your disappointment on the bathrooms you're absolutely right and as you may have noticed that we are just in a phase of restructuring ... so if you come back you'll find everything fine!as for the country of Scansano perhaps I would say that you have been conditioned by the sad and rainy day that made you see a village in decline ...... no Scansano is not portofino and not even Capri, Scansano is a small village Tuscan still true and genuine that is slowly opening up to tourism, more than economic crisis we have a cultural crisis ... but this applies to all of Europe! Thanks again for being our guest and if you come back here I hope to see you again for another spaghetti carbonara! Salut mon capitaineE.L.F il pirata ;)

Typical "toscano" friendly service in this restaurant, serving good food (antipasti, primi, and secondi were all very good). The "tortelli" are definitely worth trying (regardless of which sauce), the "ribollita" soup or a steak are worth trying as well.We didn't have problems in finding a place, but reserving a table may be a good choice.

We stopped here for a quick dinner...cheese, mixed salumi and wine all 100% local. Simone and crew are very good at what they do. We had our dinner downstairs where the cantina is properly set up as an old style tuscan/italian kitchen with sharing tables where you can steal advice from the regulars of The Salumeria. We highly recommend this place! Prices are very reasonable...said from an Italian!Dario&Abi

This restaurant is really out of the way but definitely make a detour if you can. Delightful reception from the owner/chef and a truly astonishing meal at very reasonable prices. Tuscan food raised to an exceptional level with subtle flavours and local specialities. We followed Paula's recommendation and were served a variety of home made pasta followed by guinea fowl. Altogether an outstanding dinner even in an area renowned for its memorable food.

My husband and I dined at Mariaâs Trattoria last night. A fabulous and memorable meal. My husband is a vegetarian and when he told Luciano, cook/owner, Luciano gave us a big smile and said âno problem!â The wonders and delicacies proceeded from there. Our only recommendation would be to remember to pace yourself as each lovely course appears at your table. Maria and Luciano are great hosts!

Wide selection of typical Tuscan dishes cooked with particular attention to the innovations of contemporary culinary culture. You can choose our dishes from the Menu or you can leave the choice to our brillant chef.
Ristorante Terra Nera, takes its name from the dark "color" of the earth around Grosseto. land that gives unique flavors, like the oil produced by the same company that you can taste on excellent meat dishes. excellent fresh homemade pasta. excellent service. the wine cellar is also well stocked with white wines from the Grosseto hills, true uniqueness for the palate.Thank you so much for your visit, was a pleasure. We are happy to hear that you were be well here with us and that you liked the tipical food and wine that we have proposed you. thank you for the nice description and useful comment!
