Consigliato.

Since 1983, Ristorante Sassello carries on a tradition of taste and refined flavors. Located in the center of the town of Sassello, it combines the typical recipes of the Ligurian hinterland with the award-winning creativity of Chef Ivano Ravera

We came on a Friday night, knowing that the restaurant manager changed some time ago... And we wanted to test hard, with seafood in a place where you'd expect menu is much more on stea and pizzas... Nice surprise !Don't miss the antipasto di mare, the acciughe ripiene are fantastic...and the salmon is smoked and prepared by the chef, an experience that deserves 5 stars.Fritto misto is second to noneSweet sorbet and coffe... All at a price that is more than reasonable Warm and friendly service, great bread and focaccia, congratulations to the chef !Few minor details to improve: water bottles should come closed (not open), bread should go away after main course (not left on table till the end)... Just small things

Casale ristrutturato tra i boschi del Parco del Beigua. Cucina Casalinga, prodotti locali genuini e senza conservanti. Servizio pizzeria con forno a legna. Punto vendita di Formaggi, Vini, Verdure, Uova, Marmellate, Liquori, Conserve, Spezie e altri prodo
La Betulla is an agriturismo in the tiny hamlet of Veirera, near Sassello in Liguria. It offers wholesome quantities of excellent home cooked food of whatever is in season. Wooden platters of antipasti are followed by delicious primi (try the ravioli con salvia). Secondis we tried (on two visits) include wild mushrooms fried in breadcrumbs, stews of wild boar (cinghiale) or hen, and pork wrapped in cabbage. Local wines are excellent and the limited wine list is simply part of the deal. When we have been, we paid a standard price per head (including drinks) of â¬25. This is what eating is about.

We came across this Trattoria on a drive in the country. Good food, typical menu choices and reasonable price (for two of us, spaghetti followed by roast meat and 3 veg, coffee, sparkling water and a bottle of white wine â¬41) Service was entertaining - waiter was a tad uninterested in his job, perhaps he had designs on a better lifestyle, but missed his vocation! Enjoyable lunch all the same.

Bravissimi

We have visited Sassello many times, stocking up on the excellent locally made amaretti biscuits and local fungi sold in a number of shops in this lovely village. New to us, however, was the Palazzo Salsole which was open for lunch on the day of our visit. It is a charming restaurant in a beautifully restored 4 storey, narrow house in the historic centre. We greatly enjoyed our meal, starting witth a shared plate of fungi fritti, delicately deep-fried slices of porcini in a light breadcrumb batter. This was followed by tagliatelle with fresh porcini (this was mushroom season after all!) simply but perfectly prepared. This was accompanied by a half bottle of Rossese di Dolceaqua, a delicious red wine from Liguria, little known in this country. As vegetarians, we were very well catered for, with a few options for us, although the menu features mainly meat. The emphasis is clearly on seasonal local produce. The restaurant has a good wine list, all wines on it available to buy to take out with a 20% discount. Service was extremely friendly and helpful. I was given a quick tour of the wine cantina and also shown the dining room on the first floor which was the old kitchen of the original house. Again, it was lovingly restored. All in all a delightful experience and we will certainly return to the Palazzo Salsole for an evening meal next time we visit Sassello. Highly recommended.

It is small and offers a not very large - although adequate - menu, with picks from meat to fish and entrees. Dishes are generally well served, with abundant entrees. Service is quick and understanding, even supportive. Here I had the best fried squids in town (not greasy, tasty and crusty enough), a beautiful mussel soutée and a dessert. Prices are in line with the city benchmark (about 30 EUR/pax to eat and drink).
