This used to be our favourite restaurant in San Jose - not only for its great food but for the warm welcome and good service we always got. It's no longer a family run business and I think it has lost something in atmosphere. However the food was just as good - and the service will improve with time - I think they have too few staff - so if they improved this aspect I think they could be back up there with 5 stars because it is good value for money.

We were a bit sceptical due to empty restaurant at our arrival and only 4 reviews. But it was worth the risk. The best menu del dia we have had on our 11 days journey in Andalusia. Delicius and generous portion of a musshels soup and eggplant with parmigianno for the starter and fish on the grill as a main course. Kids enjoyed the pizza. The playground nearby is more than welcome, this way my wife and I finished with a dessert and had our coffee in peace.

We went there following the good reviews on TripAdvisor. We wanted to order tapas and a main but the waiter, who didn't speak English, was quite dismissive and didn't understand our order. We were brought the main (octopus with potatoes), which was tasty and tender, but nothing exceptional. We then waited for 40 minutes for the tapas, which never came. We had to ask the waiter again, who almost didn't want to bring us tapas. In the end we managed to eat two: one with small fried wish and a croquette. There was live music playing inside, which was nice. Overall, the restaurant is a bit overpriced and the service was not satisfactory given the general welcoming attitude of Andalucia.

I endorse the other positive reviews. There are other dishes on the menu, but most people were eating pizzas. The ones we ordered were excellent, but note they are huge (as was the excellent and imaginative brigantino salad, even the so-called small version) - two between three would be more than enough. Service v. friendly and attentive. This is clearly v. popular and booking would be advisable, at least if you want to eat on the outside terrace (we arrived on spec and had to eat inside, which was a bit noisy, but in compensation the air conditioning gave welcome relief from the heat). Highly recommended overall.

Waterfront pizzeria/restaurant in Cabo de Gata Natural Park. An outside terrace shadowed by jasmine plants where you can eat traditional thin roman style pizza cooked in a brick oven and italian dishes as lasagna, spaghetti with clams, gnocchi and 10 diff
Their pizzas are the best ever. I´ve been visiting San Jose many times along the years and no matter what the season is, the pizzas never let you down. Only minus is that because the place is so popular the service can be really slow. Drinks come quickly but then you wait to get your food order in. And when you have eaten it can take ages to get the bill. I usually just walk to the cashier to pay. Maybe there is a reason to it but I never understood why it is so difficult to get the payment in, if the waiters anyway are quick in the beginning?Hi Laura, thanks for your words about the quality of the pizza. Sorry if we make wait for the bill. We give our best to make get the pizza on time and then we relax ;). Just kidding! Sorry again. Hace a nice summer.

My husband and I had dinner at El Otro Parque whilst staying in San Jose in June and had the best meal of our week's holiday here. We sat at a table on the pavement, right next to the road so enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the San Jose nightlife, including stray dogs and mopeds whizzing past. The waiter helped us out with his excellent English and advised us that the starters were large so one would be enough to share. We opted for the Caprese Salad which was fresh and tasty, but prior to this we enjoyed bread and olives as an appetiser. The wine we chose was light and tasty and reasonably priced. For mains we had the Tatiki de Atun and the Piedra de Buey special. The tuna was beautifully presented and tasty, with wasabi and other sauces. The steak special was spectacular, being served raw on a hot stone alongside onions and aubergine to cook to your liking. It certainly made the others diners turn their heads! To finish we opted for the Panna Cotta and the Tiramisu, which were each served in very large bowls and were delicious. If you are in San Jose, you really should visit El Otro Parque for the wonderful food and great service. It was head and shoulders above the other restaurants in the town.

The mussels were caught that morning and they were large succulent and delicious. The mixed paella was OK.The all male waiters shout across to each other and behave in a very macho way, which isn't pleasant.
