It was glorious weather and the outside tables at Restaurant Pizzeria Meridiana at the stream Leuk beckoned us for a sit-down. Round one for Restaurant Pizzeria Meridiana. Restaurant Pizzeria Meridiana offers an extensive menu with Italian dishes, pizzas and German dishes. Italian was spoken between staff members and a brick, wood fired pizza oven was advertized to be used for preparing pizzas. Round two also for Meridiana. But I became curious about the preparing of the pizzas when I saw perfectly round, pale pizzas appear on a neighboring table. I went inside to look the pizza counter over. Yes, there was stone and there was a wood fire, but there the similarities with the original Italian wood fired pizza oven ended. It was a sort of industrial oven with a rotating stone table which let the pizzas travel in turn along a wood fire, maintained in a separate compartment. This is a far cry from a real Italian wood fired oven, where the pizzaiola puts the pizzas close to a wood fire and turns them 180 degrees with his shovel at just the right moment. Also, as the pizzas at Meridiana were perfectly round, I don't think the pizza bases are freshly made and hand tossed. This put a frown on my face and I was not surprised to hear my travel companion remark about the supermarket quality of the salad. To be honest, my Saltimbocca Romana, (a thin schnitzel with Parma ham and sage) was well prepared with good quality meat and the turkey steak my travel companion ordered was tasty and tender, she said. I also can't complain about the service of the staff. So, eating spot OK, service OK, meat dishes OK, salad so-so, and stay away from the output of the pizza factory. Summed up: A three point rating.
Sehr netter Service. Man kann dem Pizzabäcker zuschauen. Steinbackofen / Holzofen. Geschmacklich sehr gut. Reichhaltige Auswahl an Pizzen. Für Vegetarier geeignet. Hunde erlaubt.
Un patron très sympa s'exprimant en français pour le touriste difficile que je suis.Très bonne pâte, excellent salami piquant rien à redire pour un prix modique.

This place is quite interesting placed near a cascade. Service is amazing, the guys there speak several Languages from English, German and Romanian. They have a terrace but also inside place with a really nice architecture. Food is good and the beer is local.

On holidays in Landal Warsberg. We got a good reference from a local shoe store and booked for 9 persons, but showed up with 7 as 1 kid got ill and mother stayed with him, they didn't mind at all. No specific expectations, but what a great pizza's and pasta's! Very well balanced and mix of ingredients, nice thin and crunchy pizzas. And almost absurdly affordably priced (115 euro with 7 persons for main course, drinks and dessert for the kids / coffee for adults - so obviously we gave a decent tip). We immediately booked again for coming Friday!

Living in Wincheringen/Saarburg for more than 12 years, we have tried a lot of restaurants but Bella Vista is from far the best Italian one. The chef , Antonio, (we know him as he was running the Jungblut Saarhotel a few years ago) is always cooking the best fresh food (which can lead to long waiting time, but this is definetly worth it). After having cooked , he always go around and asks if everything was OK. Far more different flair from the tourists oriented restaurants in the city center.
