I happened to be staying in a B&B in a relatively quiet area on the outskirts of Xanten and Restaurant San Marino happened to be the closest restaurant. The restaurant looked very inviting and my initial thought was to order a Pizza or pasta. However on receiving the menu I noticed that there was also a section devoted to Indian food. Since the waiter who served me seemed to be of Indian descent, I thought I would take a chance and order an Indian meal. To my total surprise the korma I ordered was not only absolutely delicious but came with a salad, a large helping of basmati rice and a a half nan bread. Given the cost of the complete meal, including a large beer, I can honestly say that this restaurant has the best price/ quality of any Indian restaurant I have eaten in, either in the UK (where I was born) or in the Netherlands (where I am currently living).This coupled with good service in pleasant surrounding made it a meal that I will not forget in a long time and even energised me into writing this review (something that I am normally too lazy to do).Next time I am back in Rheinland in Germany, I know where I will be eating :)

Left Edinburgh at noon to FrankfurtArrived after 2000 in Emmerich and was guided by the hotel manager to try the Italian restaurant Pizzeria La TavernaA short walk and on this cool winter eveningI enjoyed a great Italian mealOne thing got wrong!They only had Merlot as open wine and this is not my favourite However the meal was excellent and that made it up for the wineReally can recommend this place to any lovers of Italian food

Nice restaurant at a great place on the market. Lots of italian staff providing you with the right atmosphere. We went for pizza and that was remarkable good. Fresh ingredients, well baked, and just "too large" for the plate. Good restaurant of choice and hence recommended

Wer einen angenehmen Abend mit leckeren Speisen und sehr nettem Service verbringen möchte, ist hier goldrichtig. Da wir sehr früh dort waren, blieben wir eine ganze Weile unter uns und konnten das schöne Ambiente besonders gut auf uns wirken lassen. Die Einrichtung hat Stil, ist kreativ und gleichzeitig gemütlich. Originell fand ich auch die kleine Projektion mit alten griechischen Filmen in der "Kino-Ecke". Das Essen ist sehr solide und wird liebevoll arrangiert. Die Dattel im Speckmantel: ein Gedicht! Mein Wolfsbarsch mit mediterranem Gemüse und Rosmarinkartoffeln war sehr lecker und das Schoko-Soufflé war ebenfalls gelungen. Die Getränkeauswahl ist umfangreich, man hat auch viele Alternativen ohne Alkohol im Angebot (Longdrinks z.B.). Super! AuÃerdem ist man im Intermezzo sehr aufmerksam und erfüllt gerne Kundenwünsche (Brot nochmal in den Ofen, statt Kartoffeln Spinat? No problem!). Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und hatten einen sehr netten Abend!

We had dinner here on a Sunday evening. The place was surprisingly busy. The staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu, especially since our German language skill is limited! The food is very good, and the portions are large.

Wir haben vom Chor in der Gaststätte gegessen. Die Speisen sind frisch und sehr toll angerichtet. Die Speisekarte ist nicht sehr groÃ, dafür sind die Gerichte alle schön frisch.

Wir haben schon sehr oft unsere Pizzen bei Tony geholt und waren immer sehr zufrieden. Geschmacklich sehr lecker und jeder unserer Besucher freut sich, wenn wir dort das Essen bestellen. Die Pizzen sind typisch italienisch belegt, das heiÃt sie erstickt nicht im Belag. Dafür kann man sie aber auch noch am späten Abend essen, ohne das sie schwer im Magen liegen.Pasta und Salate hatten wir bisher nicht probiert (das machen wir gerne selber), dafür bekommt man dort aber auch sehr leckeres Eis. Gerade im Sommer ist die Kombination aus guter Pizza und leckerem Spagettieis hervorragend. AuÃer vielleicht für die Waage.

5th time we visit this restaurant .We can only say it's getting worse and worse all the time.This time we had some soup and carpaccio , where the carpaccio was without taste and totally made without love....something Italians normally give to the food.Ordering a pizza with scampis ended as something with loads of cheese and very small shrimps. Not tasty at all , paying the bill was always a problem if you want to pay with a card...the reader never works.....looks like they prefer cash..NO , this was the last time...never again...By the way...did I mention the unfriendly host working there...

Terug van lange wandeling. Oh een italiaan,zullen we even koffie drinken, beviel heel goed. Later terug gegaan en wat gegeten,dat was niet zo goed als de koffie. Wel enorme glazen wijn voor een prikkie.

Visited Rees on way back from Germany. This is a lovely small town. This restaurant was to be fair busy. The lady who seemed in charge was amazing but not in a good way. Very sarcastic bordering rude and all in all scary. The food was ok and the ticket time good. No check back of course and plates never cleared. This was after being ignored when we came in for what seemed like ages.Best avoided
