Food is ok, very old school. Their menu some 30 years ago was perfect, but for today's era, not so perfect. Food average. Decor needs a little uplift. Service is great, as it was 30 years ago. It's worth a visit. Some people may love that old school type of food.

Whiskey, steak and pasta seem to be the highlight of this intimate diner in Parkhurst. I had the Rondelle Salmone which was an unusual slightly salty but very tasty pasta. My wife had the fillet porcini which was cooked to a medium rare perfection. Not cheap but certainly worth it

A recent trip up to Johannesburg we went for a friends birthday to Lucioâs. I have been hearing of these pizzaâs for awhile now as some of my friends frequent this institution quite a lot. Service was great. Not just one waiter is assigned to a table. All the waiters work together making sure the patrons have enough beverages and food at any time. The pizza was amazing. The decor of the restaurant boast awesome paintings and art. I highly recommend LucioâsThank you so very much Zelda for your awesome review, rating and recommendation. All these wonderful reviews make me feel so proud of my waitrons, kitchen ladies and managers. Lanser's on Main serves exquisite home-styled Italian and French food with an ambience to match. Weâre open from 11:00 â 21:30 every day, except Sundays. Weâre always looking forward to welcoming you.
It all started well. The interior looked fun, quirky and arty and the chef/owner was friendly and hands-on. The starters were all delicious - our group had the fish cakes, springbok carpaccio and fried haloumi. For mains the T-bone was beautifully done and the pesto pasta good. My porcini risotto, however, was far too rich and porridgy and the pork belly was miles too sweet. I want to recommend to the owner that he adds a few healthier alternatives to the menu. Many modern patrons will take issue with all the rich food, fried starches and highly sugared items. The service was slow and rather absent. Would I go back? Probably not. Thank you for taking the time to post your review, hannetjieeWe're so glad you enjoyed the personal and hands-on service of Lanser's on Main. Our goal is that all of our guests enjoy a relaxed evening with tasty classic Bistro food. For us it's always about the full experience. We're sorry that didn't translate all the way through for you. Thank you for your feedback on food. It's always important to hear from our guests. I am sorry we didn't have an opportunity to chat about your thoughts on the evening. I love chatting with guests about their meals, especially if there's something that doesn't agree with their expectation.Friday evening was a difficult night with a Tenant Opening Party that was going on in the parking lot (we had nothing to do with that). It was noisy and we did have to put out a few fires with regular guests frustrated on the night with the lack of parking. If our attention was lacking, I do apologise.--Lanser

This place promotes itself as a premium restaurant. Don't be fooled by the fake advertising. Its noisy and overpriced. We went for an evening with business partners. We could hardly talk to each other as the noise level in the restaurant as determined by a Cell noise level app was 86 decibels. That's like sitting by a very noisy road. The food was very average. My T-Bone stake was nothing more than a Rump with bone on two sides. Roast potatoes were soggy and the puree completely missing. All this for R350.00!! Rip off. When I complained to the floor manager he simply did not comprehend that a T-Bone stake should have meat on both sides of the T.The cutlery on the tables was basic canteen standard. I would have had a better experience at a franchise restaurant at a third of the price.

I visited this restaurant upon recommendation of the business associate I was meeting. What a gem hidden away in a leafy suburb. Quirky decor, friendly team and great variety of food and drinks on offer. Very relaxed, casual atmosphere. I chose fried haloumi for a starter, which was presented on a pretty plate and well presented. However, the portion was rather tiny (maybe unfair of me to compare to the generous portions served at Greek restaurants). The sweet chilli sauce with the haloumi was more sweet than chilli. For main course I chose beetroot ravioli with sage butter. Totally fantastic taste and I just loved the plate of pink food. The minus one star is for the underwhelming haloumi, but I will go again to try other dishes.

A cold and rainy night in Johannesburg? Easily rectified by a visit to the local Italian restaurant in Craighall, Pronto, for some hearty and delicious pasta. This firm favourite deserves its place as one of our go-to restaurants. Consistent quality and excellent service explain the full tables every night. We chose Linguine; Dolce Latte for him, and chicken with spinach, rocket and pine nuts for me. Both were creamy, flavorful and delicious. A ricotta salad completed the feast. A most enjoyable evening, delicious dinner and great service. Hey there. A huge thank you for your beautiful review and patronage. We so appreciate your positive feedback and look forward to sharing your kind words with the whole team. Happy dining and we look forward to hosting you again soon.

Always a treat. Arguably Joburg's finest Italian-inspired eatery, serving classic Italian dishes, some with a local flair, and a few other international fine-dining offerings. The risotto is an absolute triumph, as is the gnocchi. The Porcini chicken with pea risotto as a Secondi will rival the quality of any Tuscan Michelin-star offering, and the roasted butternut ravioli with Porcini-Truffle cream and candied walnuts is perfection personified. Desserts are inspirational. The pavlova is incredibly special, as is the Salted Caramel Brûlée with popcorn Gelato. Expect fine dining, beautiful decor, prices that are slightly higher than the norm (although very reasonable if one considers the serving sizes and the quality), impeccable service and a fantastic wine list and drinks menu, with reasonably priced cocktails. This is a top-class establishment serving only the finest of Italian pastas, meats, seafood, desserts and drinks. Not only one of Joburg's finest, but one of the finest Italian eateries South Africa has to offer. Café Del Sol Classico is an institution. You will leave with a smile on your face and an even bigger smile in your belly. Hello BradWow. A friend and I had lunch at Café del Sol. Being winter, we chose to be seated inside. We thought we had decided on our food choice when the waiter took us through the specials of the day - we both changed our minds and ordered the bacon and brie fillet. Wow, it was superb - tender meat under baked brie and surrounded by crispy bacon - a feast of tastes! We shared a glass of wine and declined dessert.Hello LesThank you for this extraordinary detailed review! We are thrilled to have provided you with food of such strong praise! This is indeed the standard that we aim for.We hope to see you soon for another glass of vino.Kindest regards,The Botanico team
