Things to do in Princeton
We were on highway and have used trip advisor and other apps to find local gems when hungry. This was not one of them. Pizza burnt and greasy. Poor attempt at brick oven with dough and sauce that lacked any flavor. Princeton seems like a nice town but needs better pizza options!
The Italian is a small restaurant with 12 booths and 4 tables. They offer dine-in and carry-out. My family has tried several of the appetizers and the garlic nuggets are the best. The other appetizer options are so-so or overpriced. We have tried the penne, fettuccine and lasagna pastas, but none stood out as great. We have yet to try the pizza or sandwiches, but they do offer some interesting sandwich and pizza options. That brings us to the calzones. They are huge!!! They must weigh over 2 pounds, are 3" thick and are served on a platter. However, their physical size is the only thing that is huge, because the price is a mere $7.50 for cheese and $7.75 for one topping! After that each additional topping is 50 cents. They have decent desserts as well. I particularly like the lemon cake. Some day I will try one of the pizzas or sandwiches, but it's hard to pass on those amazing calzones!
I ate here mostly because it was right next door to the Festival 56 theatre, where I was seeing a play. It turned out to be a very pleasant place for dinner. I had lasagna and a nice salad. Both were excellent. The lasagna came with bread sticks, which were kind of strange. They were literally swimming in congealed butter. That made them greasy and unappetizing--definitely the worst part of the meal. Service was good, and the food appeared to be prepared fresh to order. I would come here again,
