Find out what Italian restaurants to try in Patzcuaro. Pátzcuaro ( ˈpatskwaɾo (help·info)) is a large town and municipality located in the state of Michoacán. The town was founded sometime in the 1320s, at first becoming the capital of the Tarascan state and later its ceremonial center. After the Spanish took over, Vasco de Quiroga worked to make Pátzcuaro the capital of the New Spain province of Michoacán, but after his death, the capital would be moved to nearby Valladolid (today Morelia). Pátzcuaro has retained its colonial and indigenous character since then, and has been named both a "Pueblo Mágico" and one of the 100 Historic World Treasure Cities by the United Nations. Pátzcuaro and the lake region it belongs to is well known as a site for Day of the Dead celebrations.

This restaurant recently opened and we've already been there 3 times.It's owned by 2 young,very friendly Italian guys who built their own pizza oven.The pizza is amazingly good,the pasta carbonara and lasagna ars delicious and the salads fresh and nicely presented.The bread is home baked and tasty and the tiramisu as good as I've ever had! The 2 women servers are delightful and excellent. We are very excited to have them here in Patzcuaro!! Give them a visit-I.m sure you won't be disappointed.

Tu Pizza bakes their pies on a wood-fire oven. Personal fave is ham and pineapple. Order in or take out. They deliver too. Staff is friendly and helpful in a pizzeria-type casual atmosphere.

We've only been for breakfast but the waffles and huevos a la mexicana were delicious! Great coffee, too. Friendly, attentive service, great value, nice courtyard setting. Signs outside say they have good burgers, so we'll try them soon and report back. (I do believe they're only open on weekends, though.)

I have long liked Big´s. They had a location on Pátzcuaro´s plaza grande that was sort of invaded by a new Italian-style restaurant right next door--Restaurant del Naranjo--and now the owner of the building in which Big´s was located suddenly and without warning threw them out on the street practically overnight (something typical that happens here in Pátzcuaro) but they have landed on their feet on the western portal in which the municipal offices are located. Alberto and MarÃa are survivors, thankfully, and the new place is pleasant and the pizza is terrific. My partner and I have been twice in the last week. The salads are great too. And the homemade desserts are simply delicious. I wish the owners all success in their new digs. One evening the place was packed with visitors from outside.

Mandala Restaurant is our favorite in Patzcuaro.Enrique,the owner,is always charming,friiendly and is just a great guy!! We love the pizzas,pastas and salads-and his mescal is amazing! The service is excellent and the restaurant has a nice ambience.You won't be disappointed!

We (family) went to Verde Limone on our last visit to Parzcuaro, definetly looked and was, recently opened, we were walking on the street and took a look inside and the place immediately invites you to stay, so we did. Food is Italian, they make their one bread on the wood oven, and also the pizzas which we had, and are delicious. We had pastas, pizzas and meat, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Desserts were delicious as well. Ideal place to go with the family as we did, and also to have a nice date, enjoy some food and wine.
