Good home cookingThis restaurant was just what we were looking for. We had our 2 grandchildren and our son and daughter in law with us.They made us very welcome catered for our allergies and at a very reasonable price. The food was excellent and scenery just what you expect in Tuscany.

King of pizza-making, master of art!The best pizza ever eaten by me. It's hard to find words to describe what was the feeling when we tasted our first pizza here. Even the picture could not bring back the taste of it.Next time we tried Pasta Carbonara, that was also our best so far.The owner is absolutely kind, friendly and helpful too.We are staying in Tuscany for 2 weeks, certainly we will go back.

The restaurant-pizzeria, the Buglione is located in the main square of the village, the outdoor tables, handcrafted in wood, located on the typical local stone allow you to admire the Torre Belforti and enjoy the serenity of Montagnola. The kitchen is per
When in Montecatini Val di Cecina and want to taste genuine homemade food: Il Buglione is the place! Not much space outside but a lot of tables also inside, beautifully restored btw. If you are lucky to get a table outside the view to the historic center is beautiful, you look right up at the Belforti Tower! The food and service is excellent and you will find a good selection of local wines. Try their homemade pasta - the ravioli burro e salvia or papardelle ai cinghiale are both deliscious! The traditional plates of ham, bruschetta etc are top notch. A big bonus is they also have the best pizza in the area and it's all nicely priced. Really recommend a visit if you're in the village!

I think a fairly new venture but despite small menu really lovely. House red and white wine very drinkable, lovely service and well cooked simple menu. Our total lack of Italian was managed with charm and the food we chose delizio Don't expect 5 star food but do enjoy a 5 star local rustic experience- thank you

Daily home made pasta, hot soups, Braised, roasted and grilled meat. Simply tuscan, simply genuine, Tuscan pastfood.
The food and service were exceptional due to local ingredients cooked to perfection. The service was outstanding with every dish fully explained. We had a wonderful wine suggested to us and it was the right choice. The views are stunning and the restaurant very comfortable. What a glorious experience for my birthday and honeymoon celebration. The past was fresh and had so many choices in preparation. The beef main course was full of flavour. We loved it. Thank you so much

We stumbled across this delightful restaurant by accident today and popped in lured by the reasonable prices advertised outside, with 4 hungry children we were not expecting much. How wrong we were, the food was delicious, all homemade, staff super friendly. We are already making plans to return! Grazie!

This restaurant was recommended by our hosts when we were visiting the area, so we visited for an early evening meal (by Italian standards at least). The staff were just finishing up a wedding reception and told us the restaurant couldn't serve us for another 45 minutes to an hour, but we could have drinks in the bar/farm shop. We went ahead and did that and watched a beautiful sunset from their outdoor area. The view was magnificent! Sitting down to dinner later, we basically ordered antipasti to share (both the meat and vegetarian ones based on recommendation), pastas and main courses. We were impressed by the huge antipasti plates and wide variety of items. The explanations of all the items were offered in English and gave us tastes of Tuscany we would have never ordered on our own. The pasta came and was all prepared fresh, with HUGE portions. (This was definitely the largest portions we'd had while visiting Tuscany). Each pasta was definitely unique and had robust flavors, making you want to eat more. Our meat selections were also delicious and large portions. After all of that food, there sadly wasn't any room for desert.

Booked a month before we went and confirmed swiftly. Hand written menu choices, lovely service and wine and the food was so tasty, true Tuscan and had a real home cooked feel to it. Very busy restaurant which is a great sign so you must book.Had most dishes and all equally delicious. Wild boar, veal, pasta with sausage and pepperoni and sliced beefTiramisu and ice cream went down a treat for dessert Highly recommendLovely seating in the square at Lajatico. Unspoilt Italy

The small dining room has a real Food Trough for cattle dating back probably 200 years at least which is where the resturant get's it's provocative name "la Mangiatoia" but that is the only special feature a visitor finds here. The service is basic to say the least with no proper menu nor detailed explanation by the man of the house who doubles as the waiter. We asked from three typical antipasti and he decided that he'd bring one platter for all three which would have been fine had the content not been reduced to micro-portions. We had allowed him to convince us that we should order "la grande grilliata" which turned out, like the antipasta, to be anything but "grande". This time he brough each of us our serving of one very small pork chop, one small and fatty spare-rib and one sausage on a personal plate for each. That was it! Nothing "grande" about that at all nor was the meat of good quality. only one of us was couragous enough to order a deesert after that and I'm told it was very ordinary. The worst part was when we had to pay which compared to other restuarants we've visited in the general area, at least 40% over the top.
