For a company dinner, we made a reservation. Ok - in the end, we were less people than reserved for... But : for a day in the week, where the restaurant was not full anyway, it should not have mattered. The owner was pissed off, started argueing with us - not even in a polite manner, in the end he charged us for the all starters as well as for the vacant seats of the "missing people" ! Thus : the starter was even more expensive than the main dish. And to be honest, the main dish was "nothing special" either --- just someone that wants to be rich in no-time --- I'd not recommend the restaurant, at the contrary : for me it is a place to avoid - and definitely not worth it's 16th place in the ranking of Oldenburg restaurants !

I like the atmosphere in this old house and the classy german-pizzeria-style. Too bad the food does not really meet expectations. Starters ( bruschetta ) were strange bread with some tomaties on it. The ingredients of the pizza were poor quality - taste still ok. Open wines had nothing appealing - I wonder if the owner is beer drinker or not italian ?

The firs and main reason we choose New York New York was they accept credit cards! It is pretty difficult to travel in Germany without sack full of cash I must say. And as we already were cashless by the end of our one-day trip to Oldenburg we did not doubt a second and ordered a dinner at the place.Well, now I know it was right chose also because the prices were not expencive, meals were good and the staff was smiling and welcoming! I had several issues with the interier (a bit kitchy on my taste) but it did not effect positive impression New York New Yourk has made!

Saturday evening after shopping. We popped in to see if we were lucky and got a table for 2 in front of the toilet with 30cm for people walking through :-(The place is so crowded, hectic and warm but waiters manage to be friendly and extremely professional under these conditions. Our pizza was really good. Thin and somewhat crispy with great taste and fresh ingredients. Probably hard to find a quiet time for a romantic candle light but it is fast, fresh and friendly !

The place is big and can not be missed. At first it is confusing to how to get in. We finally managed that and sat a table , and when nobody showed up, we asked a waitress for the menuShe said that you had to place your order at one of their food stations. You need to get a card. line up no one then you go to the station and one more line up. then you are given some contraptionand return back to where you sit and then eventually it rings and you go to your last line up to get your food and at last one more line up to pay for what you have consumed. The food in quite ordinary. we had pizza .

Went to the Sasso last week with my family. At the beginning everything was fine; the service was friendly and swift. Soon after, though, the place suddenly got much more crowded (not surprisingly on the long weekend around the first of May) and it seems the staff couldn't really handle that. The restaurant allowed groups of guests in with people who each had already drunk a few beers already, apparently; they made quite a bit of noise and when someone from our group told the waiter about this and asked whether he could tell them to reduce their noise level, the waiter said that he cannot do this, as it's an openly accessible restaurant. We thought this was a rather weird behaviour and he was probably rather looking after the other groups' larger bills. Waiting staff didn't show up anymore and we had to ask twice to get the bill, after a long wait. The second negative point is that the restaurant is no longer that cosy after renovation & enlargement; it has rather a metropolitan / cool atmosphere which may be OK for a lunch or a business dinner, but I wouldn't go there for a private dinner. There wasn't much to criticize about the food, although it didn't have any highlights, either. Anyway, there are better restaurants in Oldenburg.

The team at Bestial is friendly and attentive. It is well located right by the former city walls of Oldenburg, opposite the "Staatstheater" and offers both inside and outside seating. Their chef experiments with unusual flavour and combinations. I would say that their forte are home made pastas. My "coconut kiss" alcohol free cocktail was a touch too sweet for me, but that was to be expected. My attempt at constructive criticism on my meal (home made pasta with fried liver and pear) was accepted and we received grappa on the house from their friendly staff.Despite some shortcomings I enjoyed the visit and would recommend this place.
