The Chicago Deep dish pizza is a must try... super yummy!! So good I had to go back the next day and try something else. Had a cocktail, the rueben sandwich and decided to treat myself with the best shake Iâve had in years. If you are in East Lansing... stop here to eat... nice staff and fantastic food - and donât forget to treat yourself to a shake too (I had the strawberry)!!

This is our favorite 'go to' place for a quiet night out, with good wine and interesting food. I hate it when a menu never changes. Tannin updates theirs every season with such interesting dishes. Servers have always tasted everything themselves and give great advice. I understand Tannin is moving to another location. Sad to see it leave Okemos, but will definitely go to its new locale.

Spagnuolo's was one of my husband and my favorite restaurants when we moved to Okemos in the mid 1990's. We consistently had good meals and enjoyed the atmosphere. We subsequently moved to Willimaston and for the past few years, we have visited the Spags in Williamston when we want a casual meal of a sandwich or pizza. We slowly stopped going to the Spags in Okemos as we were increasingly disappointed in the food and enjoyed the food more at other areas restaurants. We decided to try the restaurant again a few months ago to give it another chance. We both had spaghetti and it was Ok. Nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. We decided to tr the restaurant once again the other night. I think that was the last time for me. We had the special of chicken marsela. I asked about the sauce and the waitress said that it was very good and a customer favorite. I was so dissapointed in my meal. My chicken had not been adequately trimmed and was not tenderized at all. It was a very thick, extremely chewy chicken breast. To add to this, the kniife I had was totally useless and I couldn't cut my meat with it. The serration on the knife was almost gone and I had to use my husband's knife to try to cut through my meat. I told the waitress about the chicken and the knife when she finally came over. She apologized and asked if she could get me another knife but at that point, I was done with the meat and just ate the noodles that came on the side and had some added spinach and the marsala sauce. I will say that that part of the meal was good. I can't imagine what kind of cook doesn't know that you need to pound out a chicken breast that is that big in order to tenderize it, or trim it into thinner slices. The salad that accompanied the meal and the forchetta bread were OK but nothing special that would make them stand out from other similar places.We have always tried to patronize independent restaurants and really don't like most chain restaurants, but when I am in the mood for chicken marsala, I will go to Olive Garden instead. Hopefully we will hear that Spagnuolo's can get it's act together to bring in people like us who used to be frequent diners.Also-the owners need to talk to the front desk staff. The "hostess" that night picked up two menus, plunked them on a table and walked away-think she said something to the effect of- "Enjoy." When did "hostesses" stop asking, "Is this table OK?" We asked to be moved since there was a total of just 4 of us in the dining room and she had seated us next to the path to the restrooms.

Our company used this location 2 days in a row to entertainment prospective clients. We spent a great deal of money here and both days the managers acted like we were not welcome. And this poor attitude transferred to their wait staff. The service was beyond subpar. Towards the end of the evening our server apparently went home and left us without anyone to help us. One of our employees actually went around to the tables and wrote down what people wanted to order and tried to give it to a manager and he acted like we were bothering him. If I owned this restaurant I would clean house. Attached is a Togo order of Chicken Gnocchi. Notice itâs barely a scoop and contained 1 small dumpling.

Trophywife and I met some friends and family for lunch here recently. It was the second time we had done so. The $7.99 price for the lunch buffet is excellent. You get a salad or soup and all you can eat pizza. The pizza is buffet style, you go up and choose what you want. There are usually five pizzas that you can choose from as well as a calzone that has been cut up. The food is tasty and this would be an excellent lunch venue. However, it did not take long to realize that there were several (three or four) flies buzzing around our table of nine. When we thought about it, we remembered that there had also been a few flies buzzing around at our last visit. This is very unsanitary, especially with food sitting out. It made us wonder how many were in the kitchen and how many had landed on the pizzas before we took a slice. In addition, it was annoying trying to shoo them away from the food on our table. Though we liked the price and the food, I'm afraid that this was our last trip to Old Chicago for lunch.
