10 minute walk from Delta Hotel in Downtown Montréal. Between Basilique Notre-Dame and St-Laurence street.
Six of us had dinner here. AS the name suggests itâs an Italian restaurant. Nice seating area with friendly wait staff. The food was uniformly good; we had a selection of veal, seafood, and pasta entrees and all were more than acceptable. Very cozy, warm and inviting, with not a lot of background noise, so conversation was easy.

Located in downtown Montreal, Restaurant Bis is the perfect place to see and be seen! We're known to host Hollywood stars during their stay in "The City of Saints". Our diverse and exciting meal options, including our "under 495 calorie" menu, and our wid
Dined at BIS twice in the past week. First time, all was fine. Good service, good food, pleasant ambiance. Good enough to book again, right? Could not have had a more different experience the second time. For those that want the details, see below. For those of you looking to cut to the chase, Here it is: Bar service is better at Applebees, apps are hit or miss, and the service is led by an abusive, insulting manager. There are SO MANY BETTER CHOICES available within a 5 block radius, why waste your time and money here? First, the cocktails: my wife ordered a glass of prosecco, which came out warm (she had to scoop ice from her water glass into it to bring it just to room temp), and my martini which I ordered very dry was basically a large vermouth shot. We ordered a mid range priced bottle of amarone from the wine list, and two appetizers. To our disappointment, the apps were lackluster and average at best. My wife and I are both well versed and well experienced with amarone, but both found the bottle to be overly sweet, and not what we were expecting. On the rare occasion a similar disapointment has happened in the past, management has taken the bottle away, sold the remainder by the glass as a special offering, and brought out another comparable selection. The BIS manager, conversely, chose to handle the situation by giving a condescending, 2nd grade lecture on the production and maturation of Amarone, then insulting me and my wife personally. At this point, I chose to end our association with this man and his business, as he had effectively ruined our evening. When I asked for the check, I found that this same manager had charged me for two entrees that he never served us. When I objected to this, he threatened to call the police, then threatened to physically throw me out of the restaurant. He then proceeded to insult, challenge, and deride me in front of the other customers until I was able to gather my things and leave. I have had the privilege of dining in fine restaurants around the world for the past 27 years and have never even heard of this kind of behavior from a manager, let alone experienced it myself. Once again, with SO MANY other great options out there in the Montreal restaurant market, why would anybody chose to spend their hard earned time and money in a place that treats guests in such a humiliating way?

After reading some reviews here on Trip Advisor, my wife and I decided to celebrate my birthday by dining at Le Serpent. We started the evening with glasses of champagne and oysters that were served with a maple syrup and green onion minionette, which paired beautifully with the oysters. Then, as we weren't sure which wine to pair with our meal (but had narrowed down our selection to a french burgundy) we asked the Sommelier for a recommendation. When he brought the wine to our table, he tasted it for us, as is customary, but then poured only a little taste into each our glasses for us to taste, to ensure that we were happy with our choice - which was a lovely gesture that we've rarely experienced, even at the highest end restaurants. For dinner I had the Arctic Char confit, which was prepared and plated beautifully and my spouse had the guinea hen, which was a unique and delicious dish. At the conclusion of our meal, the staff brought out a sparkler with the cherry panna cotta, as they must have overheard us discussing that it was my birthday. With the dessert they offered us aged chenin blanc, on the house. Then, amazingly, the patrons at the adjacent 3 tables all congratulated me on my birthday, each revealing that they, too, were there to celebrate their birthdays. In all, we had representatives from 4 decades gathered at Le Serpent. Don't miss this venue when next in Montreal!

Usually, Italian food in Montreal doesn't do it for me but Salumi Vino is an exception. From the greeting to the ice cold water, through the meatball and salad appetizers, the main courses and dessert this place stacks up with the best in North America. Can't recommend this highly enough.Thank you Peter for your very kind words.

We came here tonight, our first night in Montreal. We realized we were on to something by all of the locals lined up right outside the door. No worries though, the line moves quickly. So many wood oven pizzas to choose from.! Top marks. The Tartufo pizza with anchovy paste and goat cheese is to die for, with the Pizza Pazza a close second. What made it most fun though was the attentive staff. Despite how busy they were, we noticed everyone getting the same detailed attention. A regional wine selection with good taste for good value. And then, the icing on the cake. For some reason, the tables on either side of us had glassware challenges this night, with broken glass and flying coke and wine everywhere. Next thing you know , the staff served us a complimentary dessert, and then lemoncello to round it all out. They didn't have to do that . Class all the way. Highly reccomended!Hi Steven, thank you for visiting us on your recent travel to Montreal and for taking your time to leave us a 5âï¸ review! We are thrilled that the Il Focolaio experience was enjoyed! Our mission is for our clients feel as if they are at our home being served, we are so glad that our warm and genuine hospitality was felt! It would be a pleasure to serve you again on your next visit to Montreal .

Celebrated my cousin's birthday on October 11th, last Friday. The place was packed. To me it's was a first good sign. Then food came and it exceeded my expectation. We are frequently going to NYC restaurants and a bit spoiled by good food and can compare. But here every dish was really tasty and we ended up ordering appetizers twice. T-Bone and filet mignon were delicious. My wife ordered grilled fish and it was done really good. One more good point - we could bring our wine. Do not miss this hidden jewel if you in Montreal. Just must make a reservation in advance. BTW, plenty of parking space.
