I entered this empty restaurant on a Saturday night and wondered why there was only one other table occupied? It didnât bode well but the restaurant had good enough reviewsThe menu was very small, just 4 choices for starters and mains and disappointing no mention of salad or vegetable. My starter of three scallops would have been improved by the absence of the accompanying asparagus purée, like baby food. With the season just starting why not serve the whole thing? For mains I chose âroast beefâ since it was accompanied by vegetables. Now this I understood from Italian friends later to have been a mistake on my part since in this part of Italy roast beef simply means a steak, which is what I got! It was neither good nor bad, nobody asked me how I would like it cooked and I know from the texture this meat had previously been frozen. At something like â¬16 it was well over pricedWhen I say something like.... itâs because my final bill, of almost â¬40 for two courses and three glasses of indifferent wine, was not itemised. Several times during my meal I attempted to get the waiter/ owners attention for more wine etc but he was far too busy talking to his friends at the bar To sum up, poor service, indifferent food and a non itemised bill just isnât good enough for me

On arrival I wasn't sure how good the place would be. How wrong! As soon as we entered we were greeted with an extremely warm welcome and felt straight at home. The staff speak great English, the food is excellent and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. Most recommended.

This was a memorable dinner. The ambience is pleasant and the setting is good, although the restaurant building is found in a residential neighbourhood. The dishes are well-presented and project the owners' philosophy of offering not just food, but all the memories the clients may have related to them.Do not fail to take the restaurateur's advice for the best dishes of the day. He's also an excellent story-teller, with a wealth of information on local produce and ingredients, and although we had an appointment after the dinner, we were happy to sit and chat with him for an extra 45 minutes.

Not really a pub nor a restaurant, just a very comfortable place to eat cheap meals at lunch- or dinnertime. You can sit on the benches outside or eat inside: the room is very cosy and easygoing. A wide range of hamburgers and sandwiches but also of mixed salads and main courses. There aren't many types of beer but the quality they offer is really good (try the Belgian "kwak" served in the a very special glass which imitates the original "Koetsiersglas").Very kind staff and very cheap prices. Just mind that the kitchen is not open after 9.30 p.m.

This place is one of those hidden gems that occasionally one encounters in life purely by chance. It just happened that I was in the area of Monfalcone, a sleepy unpretentious un-touristic area, at lunch time, wanted something quick and simple, found this on Trip Advisor, and went for it. I was attracted by an unusual combination: in essence this is a "bar" (i.e. an italian place for coffees and snacks) that has developed into selling local products, and into a trattoria kind of place. The name Ristorante maybe misguiding, because it may appear to pretentious for the place once you visit it. when you enter the place, there a bar on the right, with the owners joking with local customers, and few tables on the left. On the side, there is the kitchen, the kingdom of the the owner's wife, and what a Queen she is in there! As I said, I originally intuited to have something small, as I had to drive 3 hours. But once I was illustrated the mouthwatering menu, I just couldn't resist and I ordered a fritto misto, and a salad. The firth was absolutely massive, but on quality and quality. You know, fried stuff can be very delicate and not heavy on the stomach, or can drip oil and kill you. I can tell you that I did have my 3 hours drive afterward and I didn't regret the fritto one moment, it was soo good! On the side I ordered a mixed salad, which was nice and fresh and - again - massive. Perhaps it is due to the fact that Monfalcone is traditionally a workers town but, whatever the reason, it is clear that people here think that you are there not for just for tasting good food, but also to fill you up with great satisfaction. At the end the very friendly owner showed me the latest addition of a new small extra room, which could be ideal - for instance - for a birthday party with friends, or another occasion like that, or just to have a romantic dinner. The guy even wanted to offer me a glass of wine, which I had to decline because of the driving ahead, so he gave me an expresso and delicious home-made little cakes instead. For the record: the menu included things like "calamari ripieni", i.e. stuffed squid, which is something really special and hardly found menus, which I truly recommend and that will be my choice next time I will visit this place. In short: if I could give this place six stars or five plus a Laude, I would! Plan to come here in July to celebrate my birthday with family, so thought we would try it out for ourselves beforehand. A warm welcome was followed by a complementary prosecco and amuse bouche of whitebait. The fritto misto was sensational and the lamb chops were delicious. Service was relaxed and friendly. Looking forward to returning in the summer.

We were tgere for the anniversary dinner. It was our first visit . The restaurant offers outdoor tables and a traditional interiors dining room (very clean). There is a wide selection of tasting menu (they looked very tasty and complete!) We choose squids-sea scallops starters/sea fruit rice as a first course /seabass-turbots as second course. Everything was very good but we want to highlight that the rice was simply great (the sea fruits were mixed and not visible in pieces) and the turbots were three nice fishes deliciously cooked on the hotplate. Quality/price extremely good.Smiling service staff. Enjoy!

This small but very cosy restaurant proposes very good home made pasta specialities but also other dishes. Following the recommendation of the very nice service lady we took pastas of the day and a special mixed started plate. All was really excellent food and nicely decorated on the plate. The red house wine that she recommended was also very nice! A restaurant to go back again!

We were there, without reservation on a Saturday lunch. Girls welcomed us with a glass of Prosecco. We choose for two different starters: steamed sea salad (really delicious) and gratinee sea scallops and rezor shells (very delocious). Then both choose the mixed fried fish plate, which was gorgeous. The venue is nice, people are friendly and very professional, price is adequate. A very nice surprise, since we have been passing by for many years.

I had lunch at this place with a group of about 30 people. When I entered the place I immediately felt it had substance: there was great care for the details in a newly renovated building which according to the owners is one of the oldest houses in Staranzano. The food belongs to the local tradition and was actually very good. We had some samples of cheese, ham etc as appetizer (the cheese with chilli peppers was awesome). We then had a double first course with gnocchi with goulash and crespelle with some local filling... excellent! There was no second course in the menu we chose, which was appropriate because the sizes are quite generous. We, however, had a dessert... the tiramisu I got was good, but it seems the nuts pie was really awesome (judging from the comments my friends made). I didn't rave for the white wine (chardonnay, I think) which was served, but it could well have been a personal taste. I didn't try the red wine. In any case, plastic bottles for the wine aren't that nice and don't put the drinker in the right mindset, I would recommend glass ones...Service was nice, informal and attentive (they even gave us a small gift). My girlfriend must eat gluten free and they arranged a custom menu for her with no problem. One of us was vegetarian and his custom menu seemed also very interesting.Pricing, at just ⬠18 for all what we ate, was great!! I would definitely recommend this place.Probably because we were a large group, we were seated in a room which isn't the usual dining room, but was nice as well. I looked around a bit and found the "real" dining room and I found it to be quite nice... I hope to come back to this place one evening, it should be quite atmospheric.Dear lordartha, thanks so much for your comment, we are very glad of it. After all these kind words I can only answer to your observation about our wine. I'm totally agree with you: visually I prefer the glass bottle too. But at the end we are simple farm peaple and we prefer the substance to the appearance so I hope you enjoyed our wine in "plastic bottle" as well. Thanks, see you soon!
