Find out what Italian restaurants to try in Melbourne. Melbourne is proud of its neighborhood precincts, each offering a unique cultural experience. No other city in Australia has such clearly defined areas. This could be because Melbournians are both worldly in their outlook yet tribal in their local loyalties – as seen in the fanatical support for their local AFL football clubs. Here history is cared for and exemplified in the originality of diverse neighborhoods – each has a unique face but all of them will greet you with a smile.

An intimate, relatively small Italian restaurant in Melbourne CBD. White linen table cloths and experienced professional staff who set out to ensure dining there is enjoyable. A la carte menu and selection of daily blackboard specials offer plenty of temptation. Good wine list by glass or bottle. From the outstanding complimentary crusty bread to start, through entree, main and dessert, everything was first class. While a nice atmosphere, close proximity table spacing may put some off, especially for confidential or romantic discussions - however it appeared staff are aware of this and if not full, make every effort to seat incoming diners with space apart from others. Highly recommended for an excellent Italian meal and experience.

This has to be one of the best italian restaurants Iâve eaten at. The place is beautifully small and like a typical little trattoria. The menu is small but has something for everyone. We went with our two children and the staff bent over backwards to accomodate them. The scaloppine were tender and very tasty. Our antipasti was the best I have had and not dripping in oil and vinegar with the tastes of each dish individually distinguished. To save the best for last, they made a Zabaglione to die for. I have hardly ever seen a restaurant put that on the menu.Definitely a place to come back to as there were a lot of dishes coming out of the kitchen which looked amazing.

We just saw this place close to our accommodation so we thought that we would give it a go. Wow this place had such delicious food along with delightful service. We haven't had such nice Italian food for ages. This is a place to dine at when you come to Melbourne.

Our 'local' turned out to e a highlight of our Melbourne stay. From the minute we stepped inside this tiny [27 sq m!] restaurant we felt at home. Our waitress, Carolina, was a gem - ensuring always that we had enough water and wine, and were enjoying our food, without ever being intrusive. Everything is made on the premises and served up with Italian music in the background. Just fabulous and can't be recommended highly enough.

We read the Brilliant TA reviews and eventually found the 11 minute down a side street off Little Collins St. Itâs a rapid service there hence the title so fortunately tables come available quickly. The salami pizza and prawn salad that we chose were amazing along with the lovely Cabinet offering. Great service from Londoner Ali which was a delight. Do not miss this fantastic pizzeria, fab value at a great price.

Step back in time as you enjoy your meal in a friendly relaxed family run business.
For my last night in Melbourne I dined at il Cantuccio, a traditional style, Italian restaurant . Inside decor was very dark & traditional, very cosy: staff were all Italian. I chose Involtini, a traditional Calabrese dish: beef topside rolled with parsley, pecorino cheese, pesto and slowly baked with capers, anchovies, tomato & chilli, served with rustic Italian style veggies. Very enjoyable especially when I got to the capers & anchovies stuffing. The staff were very friendly and exuded typical Italian passion for life & food: they treat you like family! Highly recommended.

Looking for a new Italian in the city we went here based on Trip Advisor's positive reviews.Good looking room that is deceiving from the outside. Light wood and well spaced tables made it a comfortable space.Ordered Rocket & pear salad, Salmon Caserecce pasta and Salumi pizza. Salad and pizza were excellent and good portions. Quality ingredients on all. The pizza base was just right and stayed crispy in the middle unlike many wood fired pizzas were you end up with a soggy middle. My partner enjoyed the Caserecce but found the portion size a bit small commenting that I would still be hungry had I ordered it. Had a good Valpolicella Ripasso to go with it. $130 for the meal with wine being half of the bill.Service was excellent - prompt, friendly, not pretentious or hovering.Worth noting the pasta prices at Da Guido 365 are less than their location in Lygon street.Open for lunch and dinner but closed from 3-6 in the afternoon.Very much enjoyed this meal and will be back ourselves and with friends.
