Reviews on Italian food in Malindi, Coast Province, Kenya. Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama stopped at Malindi on his way to India in 1498 and erected a pillar that remains overlooking the harbor, however precariously, to this day. Still popular with Europeans, Malindi is famed for coral reefs that lie just 1,000 feet off its shore, best seen at Malindi National Marine Park or nearby Watamu. Game fishing, surfing and simply relaxing on the beach are popular local pastimes. The narrow streets and market of Malindi's old town are worth a visit.

Basically a sports bar with a restaurant serving pretty good pizza but the other foods on the menu, not so good. Many thanks for your comment Annauk, encourages us to improve where we are somewhat deficient. Lately we have moved below the Bar with TV for soccer matches and other sports so that the restaurant guests are not disturbed by the rumors of the fans. Please come back to visit us and give us another chance. Peppe

Bar Bar got a full make-over, looking much cleaner, hipper with attentive and good service. Their own bakery produces some of the finest bread in Malindi, their coffees are top knotch and the pizza didn't disappoint. Should definitely rank among the top 5 in Malindi. Friendly management too.

The rooms are big, with an interesting view, some in the garden.or sculpture or at the side the beach. The breakfast was a bit poor, for this hotel. The evening dinner ok, but nothing special. It was not our hotel style.

We had lunch here during our week in Malindi. The location is not the best. The restaurant is sited in a mature tropical garden with plenty of shade, but no ocean views. However, it was perfectly comfortable. Having said that, of all the restaurants we tried (we ate out every day), Olympia Club served the best food of all! Their Oysters in particular were delicious! I would definitely recommend taking a meal here.

We found this place by chance one evening. Very attentive staff as was the owner, but not intrusive. Excellent fresh food served piping hot straight from the kitchen. Good focaccia served with the owners special 25 year old balsamic, delicious. Great ambience in an old converted house. Definitely a place to visit when in Malindi

The food is a extraordinary! You can choose between different dishes (Buffet). The chefs are genius - especially in african and italian kitchen.Every meal is fantastic. Depending which fresh fish they have (tuna, kingfish, octopus, red or white snapper), the kitchen creates with spices an unique taste of this individual dinner! But the beef, chicken or vegetarian food is also very good!Highly recommendable!

Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, Ice Cream & Pastry Shop, Beach service. Take Away & Delivery service Ristorante Italiano con Pizzeria, Bar, Gelateria, Pasticceria e Servizio Spiaggia. Servizio d'asporto e consegna a domicilio
We recently enjoyed a pleasant lunch here. We had hoped for a few more dishes that included some seafood, as the sea is just near, but failing that settled on pizzas. Both were very good, but not really what we were looking for at the coast.Ice creams after were also delicious. Thanks for your review and to appreciate Osteria but i dont understand very well about "where is the fish...". We have many options about fish and seafood in our menu: 11 starters, 2 soup, 3 salad, 8 pasta dish, 3 risotto, 22 main cours with fish or seafood, 10 pizza... for a total of 59 dishes with fish and/or seafood, plus all the other dishes with meat and for vegetarians... You are most welcome

La Rosada is my worst type of restaurant to review. Not breathtakingly awesome but also far from bad. Upon arrival in Malindi and in search of adventure, La Rosada popped up on my Tripadvisor search, less than 200m from our hotel, off Casuarina Road. The intimate restaurant enjoys sea breezes from the patio, also allowing you to laze the day away on one of many sunbeds. We ordered our food and were treated with focaccia while we waited.Kids ordered pizza, which was beautifully thin and crispy. I opted for frito misto, mixed deep fried seafood. Decently made but I won't be craving it like a methadone patient.Service was efficient, with a good selection of drinks.Beyond that, La Rosada puzzles me. A great location, decent service, decent food but lacking something to catapult it into greatness.

The KB Karen Blixen, in the historic square of the Center Galana in Malindi.Bar, Restaurant open for breakfast, open for lunch and dinner from 11am to 11pm.Typical Italian cuisine, swuaili, pizza.
Was really hesitant to eat here because of some reviews, but decided to try ourselves. We had lobster pasta, penne in marinara and a veggie pizza. All were very good. The pizza had a very nice crust, good sauce and real mozzarella! All this may sound like what you should expect, but obviously, it's not the norm for Africa, and it's a rare treat to find when you've had your fill of curries and chapati. We really appreciated the change, and that it was done right here... very much enjoyed this restaurant!

Really wonderful and fresh Italian food, inspired by the sea. Red snapper ravioli was wonderful - the noodles and sauce tasted homemade and delectable. The grilled seafood skewers were perfect, alongside three veggie sides. Chips were an unnecessary addition. Gelato was so, so good! Altogether a nice break from strictly African food. Service was a bit spotty, but suited me fine as a solo diner. The authenticity of the food was underscored by the number of Italians dining. Only actual irritation was the loud 80s music - but that seems to be common everywhere in Malindi...
