I suppose you can get bad pizzas in France but mercifully I've never had one. This little restaurant was doing an average sort of trade when we sat down but the numbers quickly multiplies making the lone waitress really regret the missing staff member, who had phoned in sick. Some tables obviously waited a fair while, although we were served promptly and efficiently by the poor girl who was being run ragged by the ever increasing clientele. We had a salad with gesiers and magret de canard, plus a delicious pizza. Just what we wanted.

We have just had the best meal of our holiday; excellently cooked, well presented and exceptionally tasty.We had been looking for a restaurant that would be different from the usual creperies and pizzerias in most of the tourist towns - though we have enjoyed many of our meals in such places. Aux bonnes joues is what we wanted; an authentic restaurant with proper home cooked food. We had chosen to go here specifically for lunch (and it would make the perfect lunch en route between say Josselin and La Gacilly) but it would also be the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner with friends. Itâs in a pretty little village, just by the church with parking a few metres from the door.You can tell that Magali and Marc really care about the food and service that they provide. This, for us, is what made our meal special. We were warmly welcomed by Magali as she was bringing in fresh cut roses for the table. We chose from one of their two âformule menusâ and enjoyed a wonderful 4 courses for â¬20 each...amazing value! The starters (salad and a terrine) were tasty and large portions, the mains (chicken in a cider sauce) showed how a skilled chef can make even a humble potato taste fantastic, not to mention the cider sauce. Then, three cheeses with the best bread weâve had anywhere and finally, a trio of perfect desserts. If we lived here, weâd be back on a regular basis. The is the kind of restaurant we hoped to find on our trip to Brittany and we encourage you to stop by and try it too; you wonât be disappointed.Waow, what a fantastic review !
