The first municipality in the district formed in 1970, Malappuram serves as the administrative headquarters of Malappuram district. Divided into 40 electoral wards, the city has a population density of 2,083 per square kilometre (5,390 per square mile). As per the 2011 census Malappuram Urban Agglomeration is the fourth largest urban agglomeration in Kerala state with a total population of 1,698,645. Malappuram is situated 54 km southeast of Calicut and 90 km northwest of Palghat.

The Aarya Bhavan at Angadippuram is a neat and clean vegetarian restaurant serving traditional South Indian Vegetarian dishes like Dosas, Poori, Chappathi, Iddli, Vadas etc.Had my favorite ghee roast, vada and chutney and the items were fresh and crispy and tasted good with the coconut chutney and sambar. The restaurant has proper seating, is maintained well, has got an A/c secton and the service was really good. It's a good outlet to have vegetarian food with family or friends.

The Brown Beans Cafe is more than just a cafe, the pizzas, donuts, brownies, coffee, tea, juices ... they serve a good number of items and must say that the items I have tried were really good. Three times I visited the outlet and had donuts, pizza, cappuccino coffee, cold coffee etc. The service is excellent, the parking is an advantage. Nice place to spend some time having our favorite coffee and a pizza or burger.
