Reviews on Italian food in Le Mans, Pays de la Loire, France. Le Mans is famous as the setting for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the grueling round-the-clock car race. But it's also an ancient town, with Roman walls, a beautiful cathedral and plenty of museums to see. Car aficionados will especially like the Musée Automobile de la Sarthe, where there's a great collection of vehicles.

We ended up in this restaurant on the recommendation of the gourmet burger bar next door (as we did not want to wait 35 minutes to be seated for a burger). How disappointing. The place was almost empty, the tables packed close together, and instead of seating us so we did not have to bother anybody else, we were shown a table next to other people. We could have eaten off their plate, that is how close we were. The menus were in French only, and the 1st waitress did not even bother to try to speak English but went to get her colleague without saying a word. I speak some French, so it was not for want of trying, but the second waitress did not seem to want to understand me either. We asked for shandy, i.e. beer with fanta lemon, but was told they did not have lemon, but I could have it with orange.... in the end we compromised on a beer with lemonade, which seems to be the only type they do in France. We were not very hungry and settled on a chicken pizza to share, which was advertised as curried chicken. It had 3 pieces of thinly sliced chicken breast on each half sprinkled with curry powder. It was a thin crust, which was it's only redeeming feature, but was burned all around the edge. As we mentioned it was to share, they had already divided it onto two plates, something I have never had happen before, instead of cutting it into 8 slices like usually in pizza restaurants. The bill was 18 euros (3 euros per drink, a bit on the steep side, 12 euros for the pizza) and we got the feeling they expected us to leave the 20 euro note we put down, let's just say they were reluctant to pick up the money and return with our change. We eventually walked up to the bar and till to get our change. Suffice to say no tip earned by this lot.

Based upon the reviews we visited this place during our one day stop in Le Mans. Indeed excellent pizzas and they were very friendly for our child as well. Easy to park closeby.

I had a delicious lunch meal with a friend in this cozy little restaurant. Definitely recommended! The pizza was very tasty on nice crispy dough. Antonio was a great and generous host/owner of the place. By the end of our meal we were planning our next visit

Location of this restaurant is good in older part of Le Mans - near the cathedral. Staff was appropriate and served fairly expediently. My wife had a salad and I had a lamb dish and both were adequately prepared. It was not exceptional. Wine selection was limited, but beer choices were better.

Sunday night in and around Le Mans is a pretty bad time to try to find a restaurant open. We were staying at a Chateau south of the City and Cotta Pizza seemed the only place open within a half hour drive after a search lasting nearly ten minutes. We were surprised to find little more than a hole in the wall and two benches on the footpath. It turned out OK! We had a great chat with another hungry couple and got our fill. All in all, not a bad choice.we are delighted that you enjoyed our pizzas. thank you for your opinion which is objective

The best thing about this Italian restaurant is that it goes beyond the pizza/pasta concept that we normally associate with italian food and provides a great and good selection of "assiette" (I'll have to use the french term that defines a whole sort of delicacies (ham and cheese) and veggies), that go really well with the wine served. Really relaxed and nice/cozy environment.
