Went to this place last month and to my pleasant surprise had the best Italian food in Sydney! Exquisite food for a reasonable price and their limoncello cocktail was amazing!

A Tavola was established in 2007 in buzzing Darlinghurst on Victoria Street by chef owner Eugenio Maiale. A Tavola quickly earnt a reputation of being one of Sydney's best places to go for authentic Italian pasta. The long marble table is filled with loya
A Tavola was recommended to us by friends who constantly dine here. Gorgeous establishment with lovely ambience. Service was faultless and very attentive. As soon as we were seated at the long marble communal table a plate of warm bread with olive oil and chilli was placed in front of us whilst we ordered our wine. For starters we got the natural oysters with aperol granita. Mains we shared the pappardelle con ragu and spaghetti alle cozze which both were absolutely amazing. I'm not much of a dessert eater however we shared the Cremino (again which was recommended) and it did not disappoint. Possibly the tastiest Italian food I have eaten ever! It was our first visit but definitely won't be our last. Do yourself a favour and get yourself here!.

Italian Bar and Grill with a New York feel. Meats on the spit/ Rotisserie and woodfired , Home made pasta's and pizzas and amazing cocktails. A great wine list including Australian, European and Argentina and France
have been here a few times and only once couldn't be accommodated so had take away instead. Hard to name a favorite dish, love the lamb off the spit and pork but the pizzas are also worth a try. Last night I had spaghetti carbonara and the other half had a steak... both were perfectly. The owners are onsite (Alex &Matt) pretty much whenever the restaurant is open, they and the staff and are very welcoming. They make everyone feel like family!definitely recommend booking if you can or else worth popping in, you may be seated the counter which is interesting as you can see the whole open kitchen.

(3.5 stars)After battling the Kingsford stretch of the eyesore that is Gladys Berejiklianâs incompatible, delayed, and over-budget light rail disaster, it was a relief to finally sink into our table at Mamma Teresa, right beside a beautiful tank of fish. Along with a trio of goldfish, this eye-catching tank - which doubles as a transparent room divider separating diners from the pizza kitchen - is full of hardy African fishes. Watching multitudes of babies swim about feels curiously reassuring, perhaps because one suspects that if a restaurant can keep a fish tank so healthy, they might keep their kitchen in a similar manner.Iâm also reassured by diners at the next table, who, upon seeing me photograph my entree, lean over and volunteer that âit tastes as good as it looks.â Theyâre locals and regulars, and some friendly conversation ensues.Mamma Teresa has existed in this spot for more than forty years. Mahyar Kianfar (Kian) took it over a few years ago, but kept the name, and is proud of the restaurant's history as âthe first Italian restaurant in the Eastern Suburbs.â Kian has ensured a smooth ownership transition by retaining the same chef who has cooked at Mamma Teresa for the last eight years. Together they have opted to keep a wide menu of Italian classics, like rough, hand-made gnocchi, which you can opt to eat as creamy Carbonara ($14.50/entrée). With pepper and extra cheese added at the table, my only complaint was this well-cooked pasta dish arrived a lot faster than our wine! After a gentle nudge, my rogue Lawson Dry Hills Pinot Rose ($7/glass) arrived just as I finished scraping up the remaining skerricks of creamy sauce flavoured with bacon, shallots and egg using crisp Garlic Bread ($5.50). Pale pink and dry, the rose is an easy-to-drink, fruit-driven drop, which impresses more than a Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio ($8.50/glass) that's a bit acidic and golden apple-heavy for me.These characteristics do help to cut through the grease on the remaining portion of our antipasti Chorizo & Halloumi ($14.90). The deep-fried and overwhelmingly salty cheese was a bit of a surprise on this dish. I found it dominated the tasty, pan-fried chorizo cooked with rosemary, garlic, chilli and lemon, and there weren't enough leaves to balance it.Rosemary was also well-employed in Veal Romano ($23.90) where two thin slices of tasty, crumbed veal were adorned with silky pink folds of ultra-thin leg ham, with a black pepper and white wine sauce rounding out the dish. Grain-fed Eye Fillet ($28.90) is well-rested and insanely tender under a good green pepper sauce dotted with whole green peppercorns. We both opt for salad as our meal accompaniment, which is crisp, and generously proportioned. Itâs dressed in quite a vinegary way that helps to cut through the creamy pepper sauce. Capsicum proves a particular delight, though produce quality is good across the board. While the dishes here donât look flash, they offer up good technique for a decent price, which makes Mamma Teresa an easy favourite for locals. While the light rail destruction does make the view out the front windows a bit of a write-off, in the rear Martine Emderâs seaside mural painted back in 1998 has an almost luminous quality that from a distance fools the eye into thinking itâs a seaward window. Until Gladys Berejiklian finally gets it done, this illusion of tranquility will have to suffice.

An Italian Osteria offering a selection of antipasto, spuntini and home made pasta. Weekly specials include - Monday's pasta e vino $20, Tuesday's braise e barbera $25, Wednesday's spit roast e sangiovese $25 and weekend lunch special of pasta e vino $20
I had dinner here last night to coincide with their new menu with one of my closest friends. We have both been coming here for a few years and consider it to be one of the best Italian restaurants in Sydney. Again last night we were impressed with everything from the friendly service right through to the cocktails to the delicious food and wines. It is truly rare for a restaurant to consistently deliver day-in-day-out, week-in-week-out month after month. A strong traditional Italian menu with daily specials. Baccomatto Osteria is one of these restaurants and you will be impressed. Strongly advise making a booking from mid week through to the weekends.

I had dinner here with a friend this week. The menu was purpose prepared to showcase Italian dishes matched with traditional Italian wine varieties. From the beginning to end everything was spot on. Highlights for me included from the entrees the Heirloom beetroot & buffalo mozzarella salad, pickled green tomatoes, puffed wild rice and the Grilled calamari with preserved lemon, crispy herbs and toasted breadcrumbs served with Stefano de Pieri Fleurieu Vermentino 2018 and the Stefano Vino Rosato to the main dishes favourites: the cooked to perfection Paccheri pasta, slow braised duck and swiss brown mushroom ragu, and the Potato & chestnut gnocchi with Tuscan cabbage, porcini mushrooms, parmesan & burnt butter served again with choice of either Altero Sangiovese or Montepulciano 2018. The Italian cheese platter and assorted mignons at the end were just the prefect way to end a delicious and relaxed evening meal. The service is also spot on. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
