This place is simply magnificent. It's quite different from other mountain resort and restaurant run by CAI (Club Alpino Italiano). Service is very attentive, careful and friendly. Quality of their offer is very high, but first of all the breathtaking views are absolutely great. Hope to return soon.

We had to ask 3 people along the way how to find this restaurant...even when we had finally arrived, set amongst a little chapel, barns and a main house, it was unclear which door to enter to find the restaurant - its hidden past pine trees and barns, local inns and fields...but worth the search...the food was really delicious - I felt like we were in someone's dining room instead of a restaurant...the service was warm and attentive. They prepared a special dish for my daughter. Apparently all the food is locally sourced, hand-made...I had past ragu which was exceptional. The views were beautiful...loved this place!

We waited a hour before the restaurant was open. It opens 18:00. At 17:50 the waitress came outside to put down the tables and chairs. We wanted to sit down but the waitress asked us very friendly to wait ten minutes because they open at 18:00. Very strange. It turns out, the food is great. They have nearly 50 different pizza's. It's a real Italian place with Italian owners. You can taste it in the pizza. It's great. The waitress was standing in the opening of the door. See couldn't see us because the door is higer situated and we sit under a parasol. We had to walk to her to track attention.

The only reason you will know abou this incredible restaurant if you know some local people who live in South Tyrol. The restaurant is set high up in the mountains with spectacle views to look at while you feast on some local, traditional, fresh, exciting and appetizing food. The staff speak English and will help you translate the German/Italian menus. I had the tartar which was just heavenly. They made it in front of you mixing the egg and species and meat into one glorious dish. There was allot of food on our plates and we left feeling very full indeed. The south tyrolian menu is heavy with lots of meat and sauces so don't go overboard in ordering starters and main course. Everything is fresh! Locally sourced and just so delicious. It is a must to eat here but absolutely make a reservation and this place fills up fast.

Along the south facing slope that from Mount Elmo slides down to Sesto, where the forest leaves space to mowed alpine meadows, the Gasthof Waldruhe offers one of the most amazing views on the peaks of the Dolomites of Sesto and an aeriel view of the underlying valley. The traditional style of the rural house (locally known as "maso") rising on such a special spot, together with the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant on the ground floor welcome the guests creating a fair expectation on what the kitchen has to offer. At this point Stefan, the host and chef, improves further the experience offering very genuine and tasty food prepared according to the south tyrolean tradition. The secret of his cuisine stands in the quality and freshness of the ingredients and the chef's skills to master the creation of dishes with a well defined character which, even when simple, do not fail to deliver satisfaction. You will probably get a glimpse of Stefan picking up herbs or vegetables from the kitchen garden just a few steps out of the kitchen or chopping wild mushrooms that come straight from the forest around Waldruhe. If you then decide to indulge yourself and spend a few days at the place, the upper floor hosts few guest rooms, entirely floored and paneled in pine or larch wood and furnished in typical alpine style. A stay at Waldruhe means perfect relax in a welcoming, familiar environment and at a unique location. A must try, at least once in life!

Small, but very cosy cabin on one of the longest Giant Slalom courses in Südtirol. Nice terrace, good food and drinks. Surprising to see, that exclusively Italians are the ones with the worst ratings. Maybe they should bear in mind, that place they are writing about is NOT located in Italy, but in Südtirol with a completely different culture.

After a nearby hike we wanted a hearty lunch. Big, varied menu. Good pizza choices. Salad bar not particularly big but fresh, would not reorder the salad bar. However, the grilled chicken we had was 3 delicious grilled chicken breasts with big stack of good fries and grilled vegetables, lovely! We had a pizza, thin crust lots of cheese and black olives, quite good. Not high end fine dining but really perfect casual dining. Enjoyed an Aperol Spritz, perfect service, great atmosphere for couples of families.
