ÃLAVITA is all about fresh pasta-from Agnolotti to Tortellini to Garganelli, Linguini to Pappardelle-created fresh every day. A restaurant whose name means "to life," ÃLAVITA is a great place for celebrating life with good friends and family alike. ÃLAVIT
Itâs not completely awful, but I will never go back here. The biggest problem is the cost. If you dine in Italy, you start with an antipasti⦠meats, cheeses, olives. Then the first plate is usually some sort of pasta, the second plate is usually meat or fish. Last comes verdura/vegetables, then sweets or fruit and finally coffee. Including a liter of wine the cost per person comes to about $20 - $25. I say all this because the menu at Alavita copies this idea listing âAntipasti,â âInsalata,â âPasta,â âSecondi,â but the restaurant, in NO way, expects to feed you like an Italian restaurant. I ordered the $28 Halibut. You get a small piece of fish with peas, thatâs it. So, I asked for a side of pasta to taste their homemade noodles. Just look at the pictures. The mooshy, overcooked pasta side cost me $12. Itâs supposed to be al dente. Same with the halibut, the piece of fish was so uncooked the middle was rubbery. So, they donât know how to cook and the prices are outlandish. My son ordered the tagliatelle, low grade ground beef in this âBologneseâ sauce. If you charge $19 for an entree should it not be of a high quality? Again, noodles were moosh. House salad for $8. Itâs lettuce leaves, thatâs it, itâs small, and itâs $8? They cut a few beets across the top. Check out the pic of my wifeâs spritz, itâs just the entire meal you feel like you are getting ripped off. $10 for maybe, maybe, four ounces of liquid. You would save money by buying a plane ticket to Italy and eat dinner over there. Garganelli, itâs a plate of noodles for $17. I have to say, my wifeâs garganelli pasta was the closest to not being completely overcooked. The only thing saving this place from a one star rating is the service, it was great. Sweet waitress, nice reception at the front desk. The atmosphere is loud and festive. The place needs to hire a cook that has pride. Then either lower these horrendous prices, or raise the quality of food to meet the prices they are charging.Hi Steveage, thanks for your time in making your review. Greek Dishes, Awesome Pizza and Pastas, Great Craft Draft Beer Selection!
I have been here before and love the atmosphere when dining in for dinner. It is a great quiet date night. The food is excellent! My most recent visit was on Friday night and my friends and I decided to take out our order. We loved that it was open later than most places in the area (10pm) and they didn't rush us or make us feel bad for coming in after 9. We were able to place the order at the bar and they had it ready to go within 10 minutes - hot and fresh! Customer service was good but the guy taking our order seemed new. He got confused and went slow but got the order perfect. My friend got the Gyro with spicy feta cheese - WOW- It was delish! I got the Italian Chicken Plakopita. It was really good too!We will be back.

My family and myself went to lunch on a Saturday afternoon! We were a large party 5 adults 3 children. Service was good. They have a lovely outdoor patio but it was unavailable this particular day. We ordered the philly steak sandwich that was wonderful. The meatball sandwich was adequate but not anything special. The house salad was delicious and the stuffed mushrooms appetizer was a great treat. All in all a very nice experience.

A great philly cheese sandwich. It was decent price at $11.00 and 5.00 for cheesecake that was to die for. I got it to share with my husband. I ate almost the whole thing. Buy two next time. we ordered a little after 4 and they were so busy they had ran out of bread. One customer behind got a order then they had to make more bread. Cute little spot not much seating but it's an authentic deli and I love that. I love supporting local businesses.

We went for a late breakfast. Breakfast is served till noon. Donât try to come five minutes before noon and request breakfast. A group of ladies behind us did just that and were told no to breakfast so they ordered lunch. I will say their salads looked good. Girls had French toast and breakfast wrap and we had frittata. Food was good and prices of food decent. Wine prices a little on the high side. Our server Adrienne was super nice. Great view and was a fantastic sunshiny day. Would be a good idea to walk the Greenbelt and stop in for a cocktail and relax on the patio.

Coming on the recommendation of friends, my son and I dropped in on a Friday evening without reservations. With a couple of anxious looks between waitresses, we were quickly seated - and made to feel at home. The menu is classic Neopolitan, the wine list stocked with appropriate wines, and the waitstaff friendly and attentive. My son chose carbonara and I enjoyed fusilli con polpette. The pasta was al dente, the pasta not swimming in marinara, and the meatballs perfectly done. Desert was cannoli for each of us. Trattoria Vincenzo is an authentic "local joint" and hits the mark perfectly. Go!
