We had a wonderful time in Alaska, and I am catching up on reviews. We actually visited Geraldoâs on July 15th, and it was the worst dining experience of our trip. The service was less than satisfactory, and the meal was not worth the money. I had the Italian Cheesesteak sandwich with fries, and it was just ok. That evening and the next morning I did not feel well, and I attribute this to my meal. My husband had the eggplant parmigiana, and it did seem to be a better option than my sandwich so I am rating this restaurant as poor instead of terrible. However, the salad bar included with his meal was pretty basic with limited options. We were staying at the Bear Lodge, and the ONLY food options in that area are the hotel restaurant or Geraldoâs. Spend the money on Uber and check out restaurant options downtown. We were not the only guests disappointed with our dining experience.

Good pizza overall. Quite a few different choices for pizzas. Slices to go are always hot and delicious.

Sub sandwich was a mess not sure how my coworker was able to eat it. Caesar salad was like none I have ever had, lettuce cut so huge I had to try and cut it so I could eat the salad. Had a little bit of tasteless dressing and huge super hard stale burnt croutons on top....complete disaster. Plate presentation is nonexistent

Eclectic menu with Italian, American and Global influence.
The restaurant at the La Qunta in Fairbanks is a disaster. We should have read the reviews before going there, but we were staying at the La Quinta and were hungry and tired and didnât have a car at this point. The menu is small, but even with a small menu, the kitchen seems to have a problem. The night we were there, there were no more than 4 other people in the restaurant/bar, and we never got our food. We heard yelling from the kitchen, the bar tender seemed too young to be serving alcohol, and was most definitely new to the job. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing here. We ended paying for our drinks at the bar and walking out. If you stay at this La Quinta, there are a few restaurants in Fairbanks that will deliver â a much better choice.

The Vallata has maintained a high standard of cuisine for many years. Fairbanks is a bit shy of a higher end of culinary work, and this is high among the best. The drive and approach can be 3 options, and to appreciate Alaska one can take the long road, looping past UAF, and after stopping for dinner, continue up the Goldstream Valley. At the Steese Highway you'll summit and have the option to pull into the viewing area, with a vista of the Tanana Valley and the Alaska Range. Why a driving option for a restaurant? All part of the experience. I recommend the pasta, love the salads. Very popular with the locals, it does not seem to be as crowded as other places. Ballaine Road is the quick way, still, beauty.
