Reviews on Italian food in Enkhuizen, North Holland Province, The Netherlands. In one of the largest civil engineering works undertaken anywhere in the world during the 20th century, what was once a sea called the Zuiderzee, was turned into a combination of reclaimed land called polders and a huge lake, now known as the IJsselmeer. To fully appreciate the scale of this project, drive into town, first through the Flevoland polder to Lelystad. Then the approach to this beautiful town is via the 30-kilometer (19-mile) long dyke. You will not get a better impression of the scale of the work that took place. You first drive through mile after mile of reclaimed land, then on a road that goes right over the 'sea', with water on both sides. Enkhuizen itself was once one of the main operational bases of the East India Company (VOC). The town today is a water lovers' paradise. Boats abound; at times, every second street seems to be a canal. The Zuiderzeemuseum here has both an inside and outside section. It is devoted to the history of the Zuiderzee and the cultural heritage of the town.

Always great to find places off the beaten track. A good 10 minute walk from the tourist centre of Enkhuizen down pleasant residential streets you'll find this humble but excellent pizzeria. Nothing fancy just great pizzas, high quality ingredients and toppings, moderate wine list and Peroni on tap. The owner is charming, helpful and makes you feel like you just landed in Italy. If you feel in the mood for an easy evening with simple well prepared food and bottle of red.....you won't go wrong here. Think about booking too .....it gets busy and barely a tourist in sight....shhhhhhhh don't tell anyone!

Just wondering around town and we found this nice little restaurant. My brother and I , always in the mood for a glass of wine figured that an Italian restaurant probably would offer some good choices. And they did. They also offered Antipasti Variazione voor 2 personen. We ordered this and enjoyed it immensely. Plenty to eat for the both of us.Great food and great service. Also a nice little outdoor area to enjoy some sun and people watching.

We visited Bella Vita three times during our visit to Enkhuizen, mainly because of the nice patio, which offered a perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee while watching people zip by on their Dutch bikes and scooters. Located right in the center of the historic town of Enkhuizen. During our early morning coffee visits there were many regulars. The lady that served us excellent "Hollandse koffie" is also the owner of this charming little eatery and has clearly put her heart and soul into making this a popular place.
Nu ben ik een ijsliefhebber en steeds denk je dat het niet lekkerder kan maar bij deze ijssalon weer raak. Heerlijk in 1 woord. Verschillende smaken genoten....... Zeker de moeite waard om langs te gaan. Voor de prijs hoef je het niet te laten. Aardige mensen daar. Maar dat is Enkhuizen.
