Sotto Sotto has excellent northern Italian food. The items are far more than the usual (rather boring) options. The pastas are innovative and very tasty. Good appetizers. Substantial wine list (not really cheap). Good cocktails, many of which are unusual. The chocolate soup is a real dessert treat. Absolutely excellent service. The sign on the restaurant is a little hard to see.

Babette's Cafe

For more than 26 years, the story of food, grace, and community are vividly brought to life when you step into Babette's Cafe. We are a French restaurant in Atlanta, GA, where you'll forget you're just minutes from downtown Atlanta and swear you've steppe

Babbette's is located in a converted house, which made for a comfortable, softly lit, intimate setting for a dinner for two. Service was very nice throughout. We had the eggplant puree--very nice; watermelon salad--also very nice and a large portion; and a tasting of the grilled corn and crab soup. Good flavor but the crab was a barely noticeable accent--so a slight disappointment. The paella was satisfactory, but whether it was a too heavy hand with the pimenton (smoked paprika) or the spice of the chorizo, I thought the characteristic saffron taste was overwhelmed. I would have it again, but adjust my expectations slightly. My wife had the veal piccata--which was one of the best either of us has had. The veal cutlets were thin and tender, and the piccata sauce was superb. We skipped dessert, as we were already sated. All in all, a pleasant experience. We'll give it another try when we're back in Atlanta.Thank you for the feed back, will pass these notes on to the staff. We're sorry to hear that the soup and paella weren't what you were expecting. We've actually replaced them on the menu and hope to see you in soon to give some of our new options a try.

Sapori di Napoli

Authentic Neapolitan pizzeria and restaurant, wood burning brick oven and house made fresh pastas are our specialties.

We needed to get dinner in the area before a concert, so we checked this place out. First - parking: There is a large lot on the west side of Church street adjacent to the restaurant. It is a pay by app/kiosk arrangement, and was quite busy. We got one of the last spots available, and were charged $10.50 (just over $10, anyway). I noted a sign for a lot across Church street about half a block away citing $10 as their fee, so you may want to check that one instead. While we were there, the restaurant appeared to have a number of larger parties (for birthdays, etc.). The place really filled up while we were there (we arrived just after 6 p.m. on a Saturday). We were seated next to the semi-glass-walled counter where they prep pizzas. It was on the noisy side, but about what you'd expect from a pizzeria with large ovens. We didn't get pizza; I had a pasta dish and my wife got a fish/pasta combo. We both enjoyed our food. We had a couple of different servers checking on us (one my have been the manager) and they were good.Depending on what sort of vibe you're looking for as a dinner, this is a solid choice in downtown Decatur.

The first time we came here in the spring the service was spectacular as was the food! This time the food was still pretty good but the server was pushy & made comments that were just unnecessary. We made reservations for a Sunday night for a quick dinner away from the kids before school the next day. We ordered two pastas & a vegetable with a round of drinks. The server took our order & someone else delivered our food. She did not come back around until our drinks were empty. She made a comment “wow I’m impressed you’ve made it through so much of your food” & asked about another round of drinks. We declined (due to kids bedtimes after dinner & work the next day) & she rolled her eyes. My husband & I both immediately commented how awkward it was to be judged not only on what she deemed an acceptable amount of food to eat but then also her push for more cocktails. We decided to wrap up quickly but ended up waiting for quite awhile for her to return. She then pushed desserts which we politely declined & then she became curt. I was a waiter for years & I’ve never met someone who commented on their tables eating habits rudely - simply say I’m so glad you liked it! Nor one who clearly was trying to push up the total of the tables bill so evidently. Sunday night dates aren’t always huge like Friday & Saturday’s & that should be completely okay! The only reason they are not getting a lower star review is because the first experience was great, but after this one I’m not sure we will be back.
