We were so happy to find Ristorante Roma in Cotacachi. After 3 weeks in Ecuador, we were searching for an alternative to the heavy meat and potatoes Ecuadorian food. The outside of this restaurant didnât draw us in but once we were inside, we found it to be an attractive small and cozy space. We live in California where the quality of Italian food is very high so didnât have high expectations about Italian food in Cotacachi. But! We were delighted to find that the food here was quite delicious. The pizza had a wonderful crisp crust and was Italian styleânot overly cheesy and the sausage was Italian sausage, not the hot dog sausage we had on other pizzas in Ecuador. The pasta was al dente and very well seasoned, flavorful. What a wonderful surprise! The chef was Italian and a lovely guy.

Although somewhat difficult to reach because of the rocky road up Mount Cotacachi, the destination is worth the trip. You will be dining in a 300 year old hacienda, with many antiques. You feel that you have been welcomed to a friends home - because that is the case. Although we were only 2 couples for dinner on a Sunday evening, the entire menu was available, and each selection was excellent ... soup, salad, shrimp entree, and steak. Deserts were tops. Well worth the trip for the food, atmosphere, views, and friendship.

El lugar es excelente para pasar con amigos. Muy acogedor y buen ambiente. Esta vez probé "El Tortiñon", muy sabroso y muy buena opción para quien le gusta degustar nuevos platos.

Great little place to just relax, meet friends, have a coffee or tea, and relax. Across the street from Casa Las Suenos Condos. Nice to have a new place in town. The Mocha is great.
